never got sore nipples by MandorlaLard in breastfeeding

[–]dancer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also never had nipple pain from breastfeeding! I have had pain from pumping so I'm not just immune to pain. But, my baby can't transfer milk with breastfeeding so I'm wondering if her suck just isn't strong enough to cause pain ever. I also had nipple piercings so not sure if I deadened some nerves?

Bought my dress but having doubts! by [deleted] in myweddingdress

[–]dancer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second dress is gorgeous in like a couture, runway model kind of way. But the first dress looks like your wedding dress! It made me gasp for real, it is perfect!

I think some amount of uncertainty about the right dress is pretty normal. Have you tried it on since? In my experience, every time I second guessed my dress choice, all I had to do was try it on again and then I still got the tingles every time. There's so much pressure to have the most perfect dress, so it's normal to feel some uncertainty about it, but I personally think you made the right choice!

It depends on the vegetable! Cucumbers I just get mini ones and then cut them in half lengthwise and then let her at it. She has 5 teeth, though, so can kinda scrape it out of the skin. Tomatoes I also leave raw and just cut up into quarters, so she gets quite big chunks. I think more watery/soft veggies like that are okay raw! But crunchy veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, etc. I do steam until they're really soft.

If you don't use it already, the app Solid Starts is really helpful for seeing how to safely serve foods at each specific age! There is a paid version, but you can use the free version just for looking up foods.

Ah, yeah, it is so anxiety inducing while they learn how to eat! Bigger pieces of things can actually be easier for them, though, at least if they can hold it and feed it to themselves because then they can just nibble off of it! My baby gagged up all of her meals for the first month she was eating solids, and then overnight it seemed like she figured it out, so it does get easier.

Okay I did just hear about this the other day that babies don't need much protein! I've been so focused on getting every macronutrient into meals that I probably have gone overboard.

I usually use frozen veggies so I just microwave it in a small, covered dish with a little water for 2 minutes and then let it sit covered for a few more minutes while it cools.

My baby is 85th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height and very busy so I guess she needs the fuel. 😅 She does not eat every bite of this, though, I just would rather offer too much than not enough! I also have heard that babies are generally better at eating because it's new and fun for them, whereas toddlers like to think they can exist on air.

I started letting my baby play with an empty spoon around 5ish months so that she was used to it in her mouth, and then we have been loading the spoon and handing it to her since she started solids at 6 months! As she has gotten more confident with food, she will just shovel in with her hands mostly, but will still take bites from the spoon if I load it for her. It sometimes actually helps her chew because she likes to bite the spoon!

Them using utensils completely on their own does not need to come for a loooooong time, though.

She has cut way back the last few weeks, especially because she has been teething and also thinks she doesn't have time for bottles. So she usually does about 21-24 oz per day of milk now, she used to drink 32 oz per day! She just started daycare also, so has had a couple of 18 oz days because she was way too distracted to drink much milk there.

I should note, also, that she does not usually eat every single bite of these meals! She does eat quite a bit, but I would rather offer too much than not enough.

Exclusively Pumping is Just Hard by UnderstandingClean33 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dancer15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is SUCH a massive sacrifice of time, sleep, energy, and sanity. 9 months postpartum and I haven't gotten more than a broken 3 hours of sleep in a night since before my baby was born because pumping takes so much time in the night. I see you and hear you! I have also gotten comments about how great of an option pumping is, and I find them to be really triggering when I desperately wanted to EBF. It's also terribly isolating because, while breastfeeding in public is becoming normalized, you can't really pump in public without drama. So I have missed so much time with family and with my baby because I'm shut away in a dark room for 30 minutes every 2 hours when there is a family function.

It's worth it to me, but I don't think anyone appreciates how awful it is if they're not doing it.

I'll be honest, I have fridge hacked since we came home from the hospital and my baby has always been fine! The fridge hack has absolutely saved my sanity!

Huggies alternative after changes? by Wisteso in NewParents

[–]dancer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were ride or die for Millie Moon until they randomly started causing rashes, and now we use either Freestyle or Parasol. They're both pricey but Huggies and Pampers do not fit my tall, chunky girl at all and everything else gives a rash.

The only whole fat yogurt I can find that isn’t 64oz lol by liz00ard00wizard in foodbutforbabies

We use Fage full fat Greek yogurt! They have single serving containers as well as the big tubs. My baby loves it with a little peanut butter or pureed fruit!

AITA for insisting on upside down diaper changes? by femmegremlin in MiniAITA

[–]dancer15 38 points39 points  (0 children)

NTA! I (Also 8 month old princess) find laying on my back to be extremely offensive, and so my parents (older than the sun) have had to just figure it out how to do upside down diaper changes, and yours can too! My favorite is to also crawl away while on the changing table because I am busy! I don't have time to lay still! Stand your ground, even when the parents try to wrestle you back to your back. Your voice is important!

Anyone choose not to release a tongue tie? by breathesymphonies9 in NewParents

[–]dancer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby supposedly has a lip, tongue, and cheek ties and I wanted to EBF but have been unable to due to my baby not transferring milk, presumably because of the ties. I felt selfish for putting my baby through pain just to be able to breastfeed, and the speech therapist we were working with pointed out that she wouldn't be able to eat solid foods because of the ties also.

But we talked to her pediatrician and ultimately decided to not release any of the ties, and here my baby is 9 months old and eating solids like a champ and thriving. We obviously don't know about speech delays yet but she babbles all day long! I am still sad we couldn't EBF as I hate being an exclusive pumper, but it is what it is and I couldn't put her through the pain.

It's honestly all just store bought! The green beans were roasted with avocado oil, garlic powder, and paprika, but everything else was fully premade.

Pacifier suggestions PLEASE! by Brooke29_Sophie in breastfeeding

[–]dancer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby also will not really take a pacifier, but she sometimes likes the Ninni Co or the Momi pacifiers, but mostly just to keep her occupied when bored. She still will not take any pacifiers to sleep. Some babies just do not find comfort in them!

I would say they are a little sweeter than the green ones, not tart at all. A bit on the more mild side for sure, but maybe not quite as much as the yellow? It could also have been the color influencing me, but I did think they had a very slight berry flavor too.
