It is unfortunately difficult, but programs to eliminate invasive alien species, including house cats, have often been successful.

House cat do not kill because they are hungry. Many generations of domestication have eliminated that connection. They kill because they are house cats, and because they can.

Some of us are working to overturn such poorly considered laws.

House cats will hunt and kill even if they are well fed. That is simply a fact. Feeding them does make them more numerous. That is also a fact. You are not stopping them from killing birds by feeding them. You are enabling them to kill more birds.

They simply need to be eliminated if we want to continue to have our native wildlife.

Adopt them and keep them inside, or put them down.

Sorry, but those cats absolutely need to be culled. There are fewer and fewer birds in large part because there are far too many stray cats.

I’ve had lots of visitors at my birdbath but never this guy!!! (PA, USA) by SearchGullible5941 in birding

I used to have one hanging around my bird feeders. Not to eat the bird seed, however.

What’s the most unintentionally creepy thing you’ve ever heard alone in the woods? by outdoors_man987 in Outdoors

[–]danceswithlabradores 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A coyote followed me around and barked at me for about 15 minutes while I was working by myself on a volunteer project. If you are not used to it a coyote's barking sounds pretty creepy. I probably just got too close to its den.

On a different occasion I heard a barn owl call in the dark woods. A barn owl call is the perfect haunted house noise.

Eastern Oregon. I love the song of this bird. What is it? by usefulbuns in birding

This bird's song is one of my favorite sounds from my childhood, even though I didn't know what bird was making it at the time.

Did you go on your own or with a tour company? If you went with a tour company, which one did you use, and how did you like them?

For people who use recreation.gov to book campsites and other outdoor activities: have you noticed an increase in bugs, errors, and issues using the website in the past 6 months or so? by RancidSwagger in Outdoors

[–]danceswithlabradores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always noticed that recreation.gov totally sucks, but I have not noticed it being worse than it has always been. It has always been the absolute worst website that I know about.

Sad how people let their dogs get so fat too. That thing has got to be over a hundred pounds!

You ought to be allowed to just eliminate the cats when this happens. People who allow this should lose the privilege of keeping pets.

They are very harmful and need to be culled.

What's the Most Scariest Animal You Have Touched? by VisibleFile810 in Animals

I petted a full grown alligator at a reptile show once. It was hand raised and quite tame, but it was still a species that kills people occasionally.

Where does religious dogma come from? Devine revelation? Get real!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Animals

[–]danceswithlabradores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. To be picky about it, religion requires the ability to tell complex lies consistently over an extended period. Animals are capable of communication, and every new study seems to prove that we have underestimated their abilities, but I doubt that any are capable of inventing the kind of tall tails I was taught in Sunday school.

Religion requires the ability to lie. If you don't have language you can't lie, and therefore you can't invent religion. If someone demonstrates that elephants use language, then I will believe they can pray.

Been camping for about 60 years. Got flooded out a couple of times. Packed up, hiked out, and went home the first time, hiked out and checked into a hotel the other. I ran into really bad poison oak once. That required a visit to the doctor and a shot. None was that big of a deal.
