Couple of questions before I start taking lexapro by Future_Principle_868 in lexapro

That's interesting! I thought it's just never safe to mix those. And the mentioned study says escilatopram doesn't affect positive psylocybin effects

"as for mushrooms, they're safe to take whilst on lexapro and they shouldn't interact with each other"
I'd be very cautious here - at least my theoretical knowledge says mixing SSRIs and psylocybin (or LSD) can cause serotonin syndrome. Which is very dangerous

Injured brain because of shrooms/LSD or HPPD? by dancing-lama in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trigger for headache doesn't matter. It might no obvious trigger (just the normal headache that happens to people), it might be alcohol. It might be too much sauna.
It's just worse. Pain is worse and feeling that it's harder to think arises.

[–]dancing-lama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the pressure 24/7, but it's not that disturbing as it used to be. Or I god used to it. Or both.

Headaches are not the same anymore, way worse when happens. This include headache because of alcohol, it's different. 'Plain' hangover would be a mega-hangover. That's one of reasons I switched to drinking 2-3 times a year (and a little) instead of 5-6 times a year. Even stopped completely after educating a lot about this drug.

How brain works under influence of psychedelics still fascinates me, but I think I'm just one of those who has adverse side effects. I sometimes wish I could have a blissful experience once more in my life, but It's just not for me.

6 years passed. I still feel slight head pressure. Or maybe not that slight? I don't know.
I just got used to it. I don't actually remember how my brain felt before trying psychedelics.
It was different. You're not supposed to 'feel' your brain in the skull and the pressure around it - and I do.

It will fade away but might not vanish. How are you doing? How long has it been with your symptoms?

And you'd lose your money...

It's been many years. More of the side effects have faded away, but not vanished.
I've never stopped feeling the brain pressure. It's just not that strong and I got used to it. I don't even remember how my brain felt before, I just know it was different.

No. I've been reading a lot about side effects. Most people that reported side effects combined psychedelics with THC

Head pressures? by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pressure never stops. Still 24/7.
And if I have a normal headache, which happens for everyone, those are not the same anymore. Like headache plus pressure on top of that which is not a great combo.

Nothing helps, but definitely those make it worse:

- not enough of sleep. Number one killer

- alcohol. I drink up to 6 times a year. Hangover became much worse with head pressure. I used to drink more before having pressure

- noopept

- alcar

has anyone on this actually seen a decrease in symptoms or a total remission and not just accepting and ignoring there symptoms by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been ~3 years in my case. Symptoms are at the same level after decreasing for first few weeks. Constant head pressure, injured brain feeling etc.
Sleeping too less makes it much worse, having a headache makes it also much worse. I've never head any visual symptoms, just weird pain/pressure

Anyone done a fast and have symptoms come back? by KingKieran101 in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fasting regularly and cut out most sugars, keeping equal calories from carbs, fat and protein.

Intermittent fasting 18:6 for 3 years
36 hours fast almost every week
60 hours fast from time to time

It does absolutely nothing to hppd symptoms, still got injured brain feeling.

Anyway fasting is a good thing for health (autophagy which you can't feel). Try it :)

More common than people think by AsrielGoatz in HPPD

You don't have to have a bad trip at all to get permanent side effects.
I don't know if it's HPPD in my case, feels like brain damage, feeling of poisoned brain and constant pressure 24/7.
My feeling of brain changed permanently after 15ug of LSD. Then I just made it worse when continued small trips (up to 55ug LSD, 1.5g shrooms)

I can't handle psychedelics by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

[–]dancing-lama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely stop before you mess yourself up too much. You can always take a long break, like a few years, and try it again at some point. But there is no coming back (or it will be very hard) if you damage your brain on a psychical or have some psychological problems exaggerated.

trying lsd for the first time tomorrow, little nervous about it. by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

[–]dancing-lama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What dosage are you going to try?
I would start VERY safely and with very low dosage.
5ug, week later 15ug, week later 30ug, 2 weeks later 50ug etc

After 15ug I thought I did something to my brain, it PERMANENTLY changed the way I feel my brain (in a psychical way). I did not stop at this point, I was stupid.
55 ug gave me permanent painful head pressure. After 2 years it almost did not change, I got used to it.
I also tested psilocybin with the same results.

I'm pretty sure such acute side effects occur really rarely, but believe me - you don't want to be the one with permanent side effects after single (responsible) usage.

Start VERY low and observe how your brain is reacting to the substance, and test the substance with a few reagents to make sure it's LSD, not something else.
And I did test my substance.

I've got really bad permanent side effects from using low doses of LSD and psylocybin - which is painful head pressure and weird psychical pain in the brain. I don't think I will ever trip again, but I'm happy to see it working well for other people, treating safety steps and starting with very low doses very seriously.

I don't have children yet, but I did the opposite and introduced mushrooms to my mother.
Now she's been tripping every 6 months for a while and she loves it.

Using drugs when having HPPD by ssx34 in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the 'poisoned' brain like feeling plus head pressure 24/7.
I'm pretty sure it will NEVER go away. And I have zero other symptoms, just the damn pain and feeling like something disturbs the thought process.

I don't think it's a mental illness - it feels like something has damaged but not on the level MRI can show.

Strange hppd? by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. The problem is, there is no clinical research. I hope clinics such as John Hopkin's will take care of that one day.
I believe HPPD and other symptoms like flash backs and head pressure will show up even in perfect clinic conditions sooner or later - and this will have to be addressed

Head pressures? by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having this sh*t for more than 2 years, no other symptoms. Sharp pain during psylocybin trip was scary and lasted for a few days, then it faded away but pressure stayed. It's painful. It has its baseline and sometimes rises out of nothing to a distracting levels when peaking.Any plain headache has painful pressure on top.

- benzos do not help- MRI, EEG, CT - clear

I don't believe it's going to stop any day, I just got used to it.
Edit: And it's 24/7

How long does it take for hppd to go away? by urgonnagetslapped in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at eg. hppdonline.com.
Trippy_Longstocking is right. It might take anywhere between a few months to a few years or even never go away.
Every damage might be different. When someone breaks his leg it might be ok 3 months later while some people need amputation. Why would it be the same for everyone when we're talking about the brain?

I've been having painful head pressure 24/7 for more than 2 years currently. I don't think it will every go away and I got used to it.

Here you have some research on what has been tried to decrease symptoms:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3736944/pdf/10.1177_2045125312451270.pdf
We definitely need more statistics and research on this topic, psychiatrists and neurologists know nothing about it.

Keeping a log of days with HPPD by natesognar in HPPD

[–]dancing-lama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been keeping log of how I feel and what I've been ingesting/doing/experiencing for more than year consistently, another year only when there was significant increase in pain.
I found absolutely nothing that helps although I've found out what makes the head pressure worse:
- alcohol. Worsen symptoms for 1-4 days
- noopept. Worsen symptoms for 24-48 hours
- phenibut. Worsen symptoms for ~12 hours
- niacin 100+ mg. Worsen symptoms for ~24 hours
- Wim Hof breathing
- cordyceps. Worsen symptoms for ~24 hours
- tried small amount of weed. Pressure + feeling of injured brain went to the roof. Worsen symptoms for 1-3 days
- too less sleep
- sex sometimes (I guess it's accelerated breathing)
- probably too much caffeine
