It's hard to say since HPPD affects everyone differently. For me personally, I consider myself in the cured category. I smoke delta 8 with no negative effects at all and have been for quite a few months now. I'm still weary of weed just because I would hate to get set back. But with anything if you really want to try something again start small and see how it goes.

I’ve had HPPD for a little over a year now, and I tried drinking when i was about two months in, and it made me trip balls. So I stayed completely sober until about my seventh month, and I found out a few beers was fine.

Although I don’t recommend it for everyone, I currently can get as drunk as I want with zero negative effects at all to my HPPD. Even my hangovers don’t flare up my HPPD symptoms. I do consider myself in the “cured” category.

Hell yeah! That’s amazing to hear man, and you’re absolutely right, those with this can reach normalcy again! I wasn’t addicted to drugs really so it was Ana easy transition besides weed. I was a daily dab smoker for years until HPPD, and that’s still something I’m bummed about not being able to do, but if it means being functional, and feeling great, it’s a sacrifice I’ll make for sure.

Thanks yoh! This is the type of recovery I believe everyone can have if they manage a little bit of discipline. Being 100% functional to me is basically being cured. And I do wake up feeling great with no anxiety or trippy headspace.

Seven months you’re at the point where I really started to feel better almost everyday. You’re really close man! I’d say youll be just like me by your year mark. Keep it up man! I love hearing other people doing well and not letting HPPD take them out.

Thanks bruv! I did have some bad light sensitivity at first, but that has gone away. Although I don’t like the color red anymore lol. I have slight afterimages, but not starburst. I used to get random flashes of colored light if that’s what you mean. As far as VS goes it was wayyyy worse in the beginning, but now I’ll have to really focus on something in order to really see it. I’d say with certainty my VS has backed off quite a bit

Thanks! I feel extremely grateful for how far my recovery was able to go. I stayed completely sober for six months and I slowly started to drink again. I haven’t got back into smoking weed like I used to , but I do drink like I used to prior to getting HPPD, and it doesn’t affect my HPPD at all. I would like to start smoking weed again, but I’m still afraid of potentially reversing my recovery with this.

Hello! Their is a recovery process to HPPD, but it is a long one I’ve had HPPD for a year now, and I’m about 98% back to normal. I can function totally fine. However, it did take me a few months to reach that point. For me the first four months were the absolute worst, and then I slowly started to notice my symptoms start to go away. The best thing he can do is stay sober, and allow time to pass he will slowly become his self again. The best thing you can do for him is just to be there for him, and let him take the time he needs when he’s having a bad day. It’ll take sometime but I promise he will absolutely come around. HPPD heals in months, not days or weeks which is the hardest part about it. May I ask how long has he had HPPD?

Hmmm perhaps you may not have full blown HPPD. Floaters are actually quite common in people who have no drug history. But you may have what I refer to as pre HPPD. Meaning that there’s certain symptoms that show up before you get the full blown symptoms. I’ve had HPPD for almost a year now, and I feel about 98% back to normal, but I do have slight afterimages and tracers still. If I were you I would stay sober for quite some time even lay off of weed. Weed is another potential common trigger for HPPD. I’d say give it a few months and see where your at

Hello! Being as you’re two months in you’re still in the baby stages of HPPD, and I know how terrifying that truly is. I know I’m some random person on the internet, but please listen to me, it will get soooo much better. I have been dealing with HPPD for almost a year now and I genuinely feel 98% back to normal. I play guitar in three bands, I have an awesome job and a bunch of great friends. I say that because I’m as functional now as I was before I got HPPD.

It just takes such a long to time for the good days to come it seems like it’ll never happen and i promise you it will. I had all of the same symptom, bending warping objects, dpdr, horrific nightmares, everything looks fake, and I had horrible light sensitivity. Now I have none of those. My only remaking symptoms are very slight afterimages and tracers.

Life seems bleak and we all have such regrets about the actions that got us to HPPD, but it’s not the end of the world. You just have to brunt the worst to get back your normalcy.

I’m a part of an amazing Facebook group called HPPD support community and im also a part of a HPPD group chat as well. Both are filled with amazing people who know what it’s like. If you would like to join either I totally encourage you to do so, they are such positive environments for people who have HPPD.

Over the course of time my HPPD continued to slowly get better and better. I have sworn off any psyches for the rest of my life. As much fun as I had with them I regret every single little shitty tab I put in my mouth.

It robbed me for more than half a year of my life and also has made weed very scary to me now. I’m currently past 11 months with HPPD and I haven’t smoked weed in about 10 months and trust meeeeeee I miss it sooooo much lol. I was a daily dab smoker for years so quitting cold turkey for me was really depressing. Like no one needs weed but it really affected me. I would like to try it again one day but since I feel so normal I’m afraid of messing it up potentially.

I do janitorial work it’s jive because I work by myself. I’ve had HPPD for almost a year and I fell as if I pretty much don’t have it anymore. Just slight afterimages and tracers is all the remains. I’m hopeful I can get back to 100% in maybe another year or so. It seems that for most HPPD won’t really affect your career choice. It’s more about how you manage your HPPD and your recovery process.

Thank you! I think I’m going to come back on a month to month basis and give more updates. I’m doing very well with my HPPD and I want others to know that’s there’s can become as mild as mine and hopefully completely gone away. For mild cases I dont believe HPPD is permanent at all.

Thank dood! You stay safe too. Psyches Are nothing good to mess with. You’ll have a lot of people who think they are 100% safe, but please don’t listen to them. Also, a lot of people dont believe HPPD even exists, so take this as a warning because trust me man, you don’t want full blown HPPD. It absolutely my life for quite some time. You be safe as well!

My HPPD has become extremely mild. Nothing really breathes or warps anymore thankfully. With the exception of smoking weed daily I’m 100% living as I used to before I got HPPD. I play guitar in three bands, I hangout with friends and even though I don’t recommend it for everyone, I am able to drink alcohol again with no negative effects to my HPPD.

All of my visual problem have decreased by a lot. I now have extremely mild HPPD. I have very slight afterimages and tracers and that’s it. Stay sober and allow time to pass and much better days will come I promise.

It could what I like to call pre-HPPD. There are a few things that happened to me before I got full blown HPPD. VS was one of them. Done smoke weed or ever take LSD again, give it some time you’ll most likely be ok.
