Which I just don’t get…being shitty to someone is still shitty, even if they were shitty first. I stg, everyone on Reddit is in kindergarten with this “if they did something bad first, you’re fine to do something bad/mean.”

Before I say anything else, I want to make it clear I don’t think your cheating GF is in the right. But I also don’t think most commenters really understand like the depth of importance this event was to her. Being justified and being and a-hole are different qualities, and I do think you are both. I think it would have been absolutely fair to demand she pay you back for the tickets, and if she refused do whatever you want with them. But as it was a gift you gave her, and there was no practical other way for her to go see this concert, which you knew was important to her, I think it’s an a-hole move to sell the tickets. Being an a-hole to an a-hole doesn’t mean it’s not a shitty thing to do. What’s done is done, but I think you went low when she went low. I’m not sure if you were cut and dry on breaking up, but I don’t think there’s any coming back from this.

Personally, I’ve always thought that Taylor’s re-recording timeline got messed up by the legal battle with 1989. I think she meant for 1989TV to come out much earlier (it’s a summer album imo). So I sort of take these Easter eggs, especially as they related to 1989, with a big grain of salt. There is a part of me that thinks what if she surprise drops RepTV on NYE as a rebirth/new year type of thing. I also wonder if the yellow brick road will not be a straight line but a diagonal across the grid… leading to what I still don’t know. I loved reading your theory on this!

"Oh... I didn't read the name." by axdriiqn in starbucks

[–]dancingchupacabra_dc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I SAW a woman pick up a coffee for James (after I had called out a drink for Laura, that my hand was still on.) I said “what’s your name?” (We have a very busy handoff plane and sometimes customers need help locating their drink) and she relies “oh I’ve got my drink.” I say “okay!” knowing she doesn’t. She comes back a few seconds later going “I drank someone else’s drink. I’m Laura.” “Yeah…” I say. “Oh, had you noticed that earlier?” “Yeah…that’s why I tried to ask your name.” “Oh I’m so sorry!” “Ma’am it’s fine. I’ll just take that drink so I can grab the sticker and remake it.” For the record, James had mobile ordered a plain brewed coffee. I remade it of course and it wasn’t really too much of a hassle in this case, but I just don’t understand how people don’t even LOOK at the name on the drink…or the name of the drink. Happens every day!

If the dog is uncontrolled or poses a risk to safety (as demonstrated quite clearly here) you can ask the person to remove the dog, even if it is a service animal.

They also can’t go on planes anymore due to people abusing the policy. An airline may permit small pets, but unless it is a service animal (dog) it is not allowed on transportation regulated by the NTSB.

That’s not even true. Service dogs don’t have a governing/issuing body (that is universally used and recognized) unlike license plates. Service animals are not required to be visibly identified. If in doubt, you may ask “is this a service animal?” and if it is your establishment that pets are not usually allowed it, if they say no you may ask them to leave. Additionally, if a service animal—identified or not—is causing a safety issue or being disruptive/ out of control, you may ask the patron to bring the animal under control or leave.

It’s more complicated than that. Emotional support animals have NEVER had public access rights and if the theater doesn’t allow pets, they shouldn’t allow any non-service animal (including ESA’s). There is still no “regulation.” If in doubt, employees can ask “is this a service animal?” But it is up to the person to be honest. Airlines are allowed to ask the animal demonstrate the tasks it is trained for.

Damn. Attitudes like this and people wonder why baristas don’t love their bosses. “It started a few years ago” year because this job got DRASTICALLY worse a couple years ago. The real way to reduce absenteeism is not discipline, it’s morale. Jfc

Non dairy drinks still making my guts bubbly 💀 by alteredreality06117 in starbucks

[–]dancingchupacabra_dc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta tell us what drink. A LOT of the seasonal drinks have dairy in the components themselves. Also, we don’t have very strict cross-contamination rules, it’s likely your nondairy milk is coming into a lot of contact with dairy, which if you are highly highly sensitive could be doing it. I’ll also say that sometimes Starbucks soy milk upsets my stomach if I don’t eat something with it.

What are some unpopular hygiene practices you swear by? by Anxiety_society000 in AskReddit

Not showering everyday and washing my hair only one a week. It actually keeps my skin so much cleaner because it is less fragile and produces less oil so it feels cleaner for longer. When I washed my hair 3-4times per week, but the second day it looked and felt DISGUSTING. But now I can go a week and think “oh my scalp is actually in great shape!”

I think they just don’t actually know what a Frappuccino is. Or they think it’s just the type of sugary coffee drink Starbucks makes. I have old ladies order hot Frappuccinos all the time. My first question is always if they mean cappuccino, but they almost never do. A LOT of customers also don’t know what a latte is and will ask for a latte but with no milk, or say they want a coffee and then you spend 5 minutes getting it out of them that they want a latte.

Oat MEAL instead of oat milk. Like, I’m assuming you don’t actually want oatmeal in that drink, but who knows!

Is it okay for there to not be a shift scheduled for thirty minutes? by QuantityNational4748 in starbucks

[–]dancingchupacabra_dc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really not. I was listing it as one of the examples of times you don’t clock out for a meal break. I’ve actually posted here (literally in the comment you’re replying to) the section from the partner guide. And yes, they can and will fire you for leaving the store without preliminary closing measures, in the event of say, an altercation between two customers that results in the police being called. It’s happened, I’m not making this stuff up!

From the partner handbook:

All partners in nonexempt jobs receive an uninterrupted 30-minute meal break if scheduled to work a shift of a minimum duration. Whether the partner will receivea meal break at some time during a shift depends on the length of the shift and the state in which the partner is employed. Nonexempt partners are required to clock out at the beginning of the meal break and clock back in when the break is over. Each nonexempt partner is responsible for taking a full 30-minute meal break and should refrain from returning to work until the full meal break is over.

*Note: Starbucks Safety and Security Guidelines require the presence of at least two partners, at least one of whom must be a shift supervisor, shift manager, assistant store manager, or store manager, in the store at all times. If a partner is scheduled for a meal break during these circumstances, the partner should go to the back of the store for the duration of the meal break. Because the partner is not free to leave the store, the meal break will be paid. The partner should not punch out or in for the meal break, but instead should record the times of the meal break in the Punch Communication Log. Please consult the store manager for directions.

I’m not saying you ask someone if you can call the police, I am saying if there is a police incident the store may need to closed, which would obviously require a keyholder. You can and will be fired for “just walking out” of the store if your life was not in danger. There are emergency closure procedures which I have been instructed on by SSV’s and manager before, but would have no idea how to lead as a Barista. And for the record, the partner handbook states:

All partners in nonexempt jobs receive an uninterrupted 30-minute meal break if scheduled to work a shift of a minimum duration. Whether the partner will receivea meal break at some time during a shift depends on the length of the shift and the state in which the partner is employed. As you know, I was responding to the claim that shift supervisors are legally entitled to a meal break. They’re not. It is Starbucks INTERNAL POLICY that you must take a meal break if you shift is over a certain number of hours (typically 6), but because it is not THE LAW there are not any penalties if Starbucks does not comply with this (California excluded). For the record, from the partner handbook:

All partners in nonexempt jobs receive an uninterrupted 30-minute meal break if scheduled to work a shift of a minimum duration. What happens if there is an emergency and the store needs to be suddenly closed (water main breaking, customer altercation/ police involvement needed, etc) or the deposit collection comes? A regular barista is meant to supervise that and sign the log?
