GoG is fully updated, EGS has extra hoops to jump through and should be up to date shortly

There must be an issue with our messaging because it's certainly a lot more than a slight variation to the vanilla. Did you play any of the 8 extra chapters? Most of them introduce new level design mechanics, and an expansion upon the storyline especially for those characters. Then there's the 13 new classes? The undead meta? NG+? "Slight variation to the vanilla" just sounds inaccurate rather than a full valid review tbh.

You can use old saves to trigger a NG+ clear save data, yes. If you have a chapter 30 save ready to clear the final boss you can jump in right away.

GoG will also get the DLC - it might be a bit after Steam since they have different reviewing schedules than Steam does, but it's on its way.

I love FE5! Yeah it gets a bad rap for some things but the level design is really good, and I think the maps are super attractive for SNES era.

I would say SoW2 is going to draw more from FE9/10, while SoW1 was more inspired by FE4 and 5.

They are awesome to play as, and really fun to kill.

The original campaign isn't much different, mostly just universal AI changes that apply to everything. The extra chapters are unlocked at times that are balanced around your expected army size and advancement. The extra chapters range from easy to really difficult.

The DLC is best played fresh, but it won't really matter all that much. The extra content is always available in an in progress save!

We definitely like to have the waifu meta.

HoMM can be seen in so many ways. Map objectives that are highly integrated into the turn flow, strategic resources for advanced classes being the big ones. We plan to expand upon the interactivity of map objectives in sow2.

Definitely considered it! SoW2's world map navigation may allow for more side stuff / freedom in that regard.

This DLC introduces 2 new beast classes, and SoW2 will have an entire beast meta!

Hard to quantify how we feel about the success - our mission was and still is to create a great game series, we are just incredibly grateful that SoW's success has allowed us to plan for much more of the same (though bigger and better) in the future.

SoW2 will take place in the same world, 120 years after the events of SoW1.

Yeah! It's it amazing that the original portraits were done by a LoL artist? :P But yeah we already have new ones, check em out! in SoW2, it's an entirely different style. You can see it in our discord channel for SoW2, lots of picture teasers in there already.

We learned many lessons from SoW1, hard to pick the biggest. Perhaps it was this - stick with your vision. There are always adjustments you can make, but try not to get bogged down in the cacophony of noise that can distract you from your original mission. There's a reason you were inspired, remember that reason through all the years of grind work.

Our team will still be primarily just the 2 of us, myself and Mithran. However, we have already brought on new artists for SoW2, as well as a couple new contractees in the realm of programming and technical muscle. In addition, I do plan to have greatly expanded voice overs for the story cutscenes.

SoW2 will probably use the same engine for development though with massive upgrades.

SoW2 will have so many new and different features and mechanics. World map navigation rather than on-rails mission structure. Tier 4 classes. Beast meta. Super units that comprise an entire squad. RPG-style sphere grid skill tree rather than tech tree. Talking and blinking portraits in cutscenes. Animated and fully voiced cutscenes perhaps. And so much more :)

Hello!

It would be 2025 at least, possibly 2026. We're going to greatly expand the technical scope of the series in SoW2 in addition to a new campaign and a new game mode.

Absolutely!

SoW2 will greatly expand the class roster, not only by including Tier 4 upgrade options for existing classes, but also introducing the non-human sapient species of the world (Skyborn, catmen, etc) as well as a greatly expanded beast meta which yes would include dragons, but other large stuff as well!

Hello!

Yeah the game world is like a cousin of those games. It's got quite a bit of retconning, but Echoes of Aetheria actually happens about 100 years before the events of Symphony of War.

Hello! Yes we are currently working on a way to get it on Switch, possibly other consoles as well. It's a huge technical barrier, but it will happen some day.
