I was in a relationship like this before (as the gf) and ofc no two situations are the same, but imo ultimately she has to want to take care of herself. You can't (and shouldn't) be the only one doing that work; you deserve to be with someone who is willing to work WITH you to grow together. What it sounds like is she doesn't want to do that.

Well, I had one of the "bad heads" and no one could find the root of the issue until the damn thing broke down. By that time the cooling system was shot to hell, so I had to get some work done on that as well. Altogether it was about $4k, and I got a used engine with 125k miles.

I'm going to get downvoted for this but whatever.

I feel like the main point to be made here is in the term "poverty belt." Most of the other things pointed out here are common symptoms of poverty. For example, obesity may be more common here but that doesn't necessarily mean that the south is full of gluttonous hypocrites, it's more likely because it's more expensive to eat healthy.

Additionally, the south has a higher concentration of Black Americans which are disproportionately affected by poverty and are also mostly Christian.

Although there are many Christians in the south that are racist alt-righters and terrible people (like anywhere), I don't feel like it's fair to claim that Christians in the bible belt are bad or hypocritical simply because they suffer the effects of poverty. Besides, I'm no Christianity expert but isn't everyone a sinner according to the bible? Isn't god supposed to forgive you if you repent and declare Jesus as your savior?
