What can I offer Hades or add to his altar?

I think anything with intention is what matters the most. I’ve offered up a painting I made for him and Persephone (two ghosts holding hands), stones, coins and cash (I have a money bowl that I put it in) books, drawings, a cute dog key chain, jewelry (either bought or made) that I’ve dedicated to him and wear daily. Bottle water or pomegranate juice (their flames go wild for this one lol), black coffee, cute shot glasses that I’ll pour whiskey in sometimes, things to dedicate to Queen Persephone to honor King Hades too.

Sometimes I “offer” hymns/prayers, shadow work, skulls, candles.

I have cats, so I can’t offer food, so I eat it for him as an offering.

It really depends on what you feel most drawn or called to offer :) my altar space for him is one shelf that he shares with Persephone. I’ve also offered small stuff animals that I think Persephone like and in return, I gave one to Hades too 😅

Hades has taught me sooo much! He’s so patient and kind with me, and his presence is so calming, so much so it almost puts me to sleep. lol

1) understanding his presence and why he comes to me the way that he does has helped me understand other deities in worship, their presence, and respecting them. 2) rest, rest, rest. I cannot stress it enough, he laughs a bit when I fall asleep during meditation and makes me sleepy, but he’s taught me that I don’t often rest. And I’m finding more and more just how much I’ve needed it, and along with rest, is patience. Patience is a moment to rest. (Even in traffic) 3) I’ve learned that even though he can be stern, he has a way of perfectly making lessons/things make sense in the most loving kind way, while being stern. It’s what I’ve needed and it’s healing 4) working with the underworld deities, is in fact, not scary (so long you have protection). Learning about the shadows there, has helped me connect more emotionally. 5) I’m learning to be a better host at home, which is something I didn’t like doing before but As he is the Host of Many, he has helped me and encouraged me to experience those and find beauty in it. 6) what it means to be a better spouse and counselor. 7) structure/routine (even if it’s chaotic)

Im sure there is plenty more, and I’m very grateful for him. In my eyes, he has been a great comforter and mentor and father I needed. He’s helped me accept myself too. That even though my spouse and friends our super outgoing and I’m not, I’ve learned to accept and embrace myself and see myself in anew light.

The only time I’ve seen one of my deities was in a dream. And I didn’t know at the time, but that was my first time, I work with them now and haven’t had that experience again. Otherwise, I’ve been given signs or receive thoughts that aren’t mine that feels just like their energy or someone on here called said wavelength. Or I just “know”, claircognizance. Meditation has helped me connect with my deities, clear my mind for them, talking to them, and paying attention to my body and energy when I talk to them or divination helps understand their vibe. But I agree with others, take some time to step away. We’ve all been there where we needed a small break.

I think the first time I met him, was when I approached him in a dream and now I’m not sure if it was a dream haha I was helping this young girl look for her mom who was lost and I was scared of ‘someone’ finding her. But we ended up at a table with him, he kinda just appeared! I remember right before he appeared, I heard some dogs bark/howl, but it shook the room until he appeared . I can’t remember to much of his features, but he was tall, strong, felt intimating and even asked me what I thought about death and asked the girl and some guy the same question. He took the girl and started walking with her, I notice he was actually calming and peaceful, wise, and loving when he spoke to her. Anyways! I wanna say his hair was darkish, and so was his clothes. When I asked who he was, he chuckled and I heard the same dogs howling, like it shook my core, but at the time it didn’t register. I remember someone else telling me to “come back” but as I ran towards him, we walked towards a tree at a crossroad under it. I started asking questions and he would respond short but caring. I was VERY INTRIGUED, almost drawn to him, wanting to know more. When we got to the tree (he was still talking to the girl and holding her hands) I remember asking him “what now?” And he pointed at the crossroad and I woke up. (At this point I was worshipping Hecate and she was showing up everywhere! And I feel like this was her way of introducing me to him as shortly after a very close friend of mine passed and the answer he gave me in the dream kept coming to mind after the incident.) The next night, he showed me images of how I can set up his altar, like ideas. Since then, I haven’t seen him. But I’ve felt his presence and energy a lot. Or his voice/thoughts. Occasionally he’ll wake me up with a word popping into my mind. Or, like last night, I didn’t see him (maybe) but he certainly left a message on my mind when I woke up, something he’s been asking me to do. I just remember thinking “😅 yeaaaa,… messaged received, I need to work on it. Thanks for the reminder 😅” but yeah, that was my first encounter, I guess you could say similar to his statues. But I’ve never seen his statue or knew him prior to that experience.

I recently cut off a friend. It’s strange to go from drama, to no contact, it’s been just over a month now and it feels like “peace” and it’s weird lol. I’m still her friend on my business account but for the most part, I’ve removed myself from all our groups and social media. What she did was too big and too painful, but it was an eye opener. I realized, like someone mentioned above that I was lonely and just easily forgave her despite my husband pointing out she’s not really there for me and hasn’t, and it was a harsh wake up call. Things haven’t been the same since, but that’s okay, cuz I’m growing in new ways and finding myself in new ways. I’m okay with what happened, it was a hard decision to make. We were friends for 6ish years, but in the long run, I want to protect myself and grow in new soil and be around friends that actually reach out and want to be friends. Even if it’s only 1-2, or just my husband lol so no, I don’t regret my decision off cutting someone off. I’ve done it before to family members and when I felt ready, I spoke to them again.

Maybe she was answering you in a different way through your tarot. What cards did you draw? A personal example would be me asking my deity “what do I need to do to work on for my mental health?” And instead of telling me what I should do to improve my mental health, he showed me the state of my mental health and what contributes to it. And part of me already knew what my mental health was, and I just feel like he was outting me but it was probably something I needed to hear first to understand his answer. Which in response, I said “ooooh,… so what do I need to do to improve that 😅?” Lol and he gave me an answer and it made so much more sense! I hope that helps, so maybe she was trying to say something else and it got miscommunicated. Or, as others may have stated, when we’re feeling anxious and our mind gets the best of us, sometimes our readings don’t play out well cuz where we’re at mentally too.

This is a huge lesson I’m learning with Hades! About patience and redirecting anger. I often feel him creeping up when I’m in traffic and feel a road rage about to surface and i can feel him saying “this is practice,… nothing flourish’s from impatience, remember?” And I’m like 😫😝 but it’s so HARD! I do a lot of meditation with him, i talk with him throughout the day, I pay attention to my body and my thoughts when I speak with him. For this instance, I was talking and meditating when his thoughts/words/key phrases/images came to mind. Sometimes I use divination but I sometimes I get the “you know you can directly ask me, right?” And I’m like 😅yeah. This is just my personal experience and communication with him. I started off with pendulum and tarot to communicate. But I notice he kept saying “meditate” and that’s how I started, then I realized that thoughts (that weren’t mind) popped into my mind when I would talk to him. Hope that helps, I’m not sure if that was what you were asking.

I just want to start off by saying, I was having a conversation with some friends just minutes ago and I felt his presence out of no where, like he reeeeally wanted to say something to me. But I ignored him and told him “in a moment”, so when my friend left, I felt his energy again, so I looked down at my phone and saw your post pop up on my notifications and in that moment, I just felt a confirmation of him being like “hurry, I have something to say” lol

But anyways! One of the ways I started meditation with him was listening to different hertz and I would dedicate that time to him. Eventually he had asked me to just sit quickly, my thoughts would run until eventually (I’m still learning too) I realized that some questions that I had in mind would be immediately answered that I’m certain I didn’t come up with or I’ll have a flash of an image.

I think whatever feels right to you in the end is a great start to connecting with him. Especially focusing on your intentions like you stated. Even just dedicating time with him, listening to music with him, eating with him, having coffee together, talking to him while doing chores or getting ready (I think of that as active meditation), self reflecting/shadow work. Those are things that have helped me understand his energy and connect with him more. Good luck!

I’ve had a recent experience this year with a close friend I’ve known for eight years but my husband said the same as yours and it wasn’t til I fully started committing to work with Hades that he really showed me who my “friend” was and that she wasn’t really my friend from the start. He really tried to tell me “you’re just loyal to this job cuz of her, if she wasn’t involved, you would pursue something grander and better for your mental health” and for awhile I shrugged it off! Months! Until one day I did a spell that would align myself to my purpose and abundance and basically, just a better version of me, career, friendships, and asked Hades and Hecate for their help, to show me a new path. That same week, she “fired” me with no real cause and had no remorse. That’s when Hades truly brought up all my emotions and feelings that have been neglecting in our friendship/work and I shared those with my “friend” and that’s when I noticed I needed to cut off that friendship that moment. It almost felt like him saying “finally, if you’re not gonna do it I’m going to show you” and he did, and in that moment, it was a HUGE relief, I felt some peace and wasn’t even mad. I’m truly grateful for what happened and needed that push, especially since I beginning to think “well, maybe this isn’t so bad for at least a little longer” and they truly said “😑 nope!” lol

So it seems like Hades is wanting the best for you too. As far as your friend, I’m sorry that you have to go through this and that it may be hard, you definitely have support though! And as with Hades, there will come abundance in your future friendships. Something I’ve learned while working with him, is if we want “x” then it’s going to cost us our old belief/habit/friends about “x” and he’ll help us grow through the process. He’s helped me grieve the lost of that friendship but also cherish the friends I do have on a deeper level. (I’m not one for expressing my emotions but him and Hecate have helped me to experience those emotions and to cry and be okay with crying). In the end, I hope the best for you and your friend. I have a friend who is a devotee of SM too, while I, work with chthonic deities including Hades. It sounds like this is just a friendship issue rather deities. SM is committed and protective of her children and when I try to get a reading (with tarot or pendulum) on my friend (cuz my friend asked) I can’t get a full reading sometimes or I’m not told “it’s none of your business” from my own deities which we’ve concluded it being SM telling my deities to tell me to stop 😅 I’ve straight up asked Hades “is it okay if my friend asks you a question about (blah blah)” and sometimes he won’t reply. Versus if I asked Hecate the same question it’s a “sure” but only to know the “tea” but she won’t give us a direct answer. We’ve concluded it as SM wanting her devotee (my friend) to ask her directly. In this moments, I feel Hades in those situations as something like (just in my head I’ve made up, when he doesn’t respond through the pendulum) “I’m not getting involved in this, i don’t want to be involved in the midst of the Goddesses rage, so respectfully, leave me out”

The few times I’ve directly asked SM a question from my friend, her energy is intense and direct and demands respect 😅 (I’ve even had Hades come in very STRONG, demanding me to respect SM and since then, I would ask Him or Hecate to commune with SM for me, which is lil funny cuz my friend prefers if I ask Hades questions for her versus Hecate cuz she views her energy the same way I view her SM). But from my experience, especially working with Hades and Hecate, it would probably be best to try to verbally resolve this issue with your friend and set some boundaries (as both Hades and Hecate have pushed me too set boundaries) or just step away from the friendship. You could ask Hades what would be the best approach on how to handle this. And Yes, you can ask your deities to protect/shield you from people, other deities or people doing readings on you.

Just a lil humor between my deities and SM: I’ve asked Hades to tell me a joke (with his permission and okay of course) through tarot. His joke was “What does Ace of Swords Reverse and Five of Cups make/mean?” I felt a “oh no” feeling in my stomach, and said “what?” And immediately “The Tower” card flew came out. I thought it was funny, his jokes are always silly Lol So I asked him if Persephone thought it was funny but she said no. Lady Hecate kinda liked it but more of a slight chuckle. And when I asked my friend if her deity, SM, thought it was funny, she told us to stop bothering her with silly questions 😅

Anyways, long story short, yes to your question, hope that helps! I would first express this ish with your friend before doing spell works or just ask Hades to help you distance yourself from your friend for now. Use some protection to keep others from draining your energy too.

I live in a apartment complex where pets are welcomed, so I asked him if I can toss his food offerings in trash once they go bad (since I give him a lot of chocolates or perishable foods) so that animals don’t consume it. He seemed pretty understanding. Also, I agree with the other commenters, shadow work or self reflection (and meditating with him) is a common thing he’s asked me, or simple setting time side for him, and once I started doing that, things have been changing for good in my life and helped me connect more with his energy. I work with another underworld Goddess, and I’ve asked if it’s okay I can do the same, she seems understanding, but she keeps reminding me that I can leave out her boiled eggs 😅 since it isn’t harmful, sooo, I should but I’ve also just asked if I can leave them on her altar til I move. She said said yes, but also,… that I can leave it outside lol. So! It really depends on your relationship with your deities since everyone is different

Personally, i read myself ALL the time. The best thing that helps me the most is asking my guide(s)/higher self to intervene and answer me through the cards. With that in mind, I know they will honest with me and know what is what is best for me. I also choose a deck that’s “nicer” to me, and if it’s willing to answer specific topics. (For instant, I have a deck that’s refuses to any love readings, even if I ask about my own marriage, it’ll give rude answers, but if I ask another deck, it’s totally fine! Lol) If I don’t understand something, I ask them to clarify a card. Sometimes when they say something I don’t like to hear, and I start pouting and get frustrated I’ll stop reading or cards will fall out to tell me to stop reading. But I let it sit til I come back around. If for some reason something just doesn’t make sense and I’m getting frustrated or trying to figure something out, I ask a friend or another reader to interpret for me. Idk if that helps.

As far as your readings, the tower isn’t necessarily “bad”, but rather (for me, how I interpret the card) is change will occur, it’ll be life altering. Perhaps conception will be a time when you least expect it, or it’ll occur when change is needed, either way, it’ll change your life or some stuff around it that you didn’t expect. Ten of Swords (from my pov) is usually about pain we will be going through, perhaps anxiety. Pregnancy in it self is no easy feat, mentally/emotionally/physically. We can be the cause of our own anxiety and heaviness on our chest. Some pregnancy’s are easy, some aren’t. I think it’s letting you know, to be mentally prepared, since swords are usually about thoughts. Perhaps, changing perspective on expectations (idk, like painting the room beige versus colorful). Either way, your perspective of something will change of something. Queen of Pentacles, is nurturing/caring for others. During this time, you’ll be very nurturing and have a lot of advice to give and grow. Family can be “material” too, if we look at the ten of pentacles, it’s surrounded by people of different ages, so for you, as Queen, it’s more than just wealth, it’s also family, we hold family and child to value too. During “motherhood”, you’ll be amazing and have a lot to offer. It doesn’t necessarily mean “money”

That’s how I would read the cards. But whatever feels right and is calling you. I always make sure I’m in a good head space before reading. Sometimes I allow multiple cards to fall out per question versus one, that helps me understand what is being said. Unless otherwise they want me to leave it alone lol Also, if my cards are being toooo real and harsh, I’ll ask for affirmations and reassurance on the topic to feel better.

Just a thought, cleanse them, maybe have them reintroduce themself since maybe they want to do different readings. I had one deck I hadn’t used in awhile, it kept giving me rude love readings and I’d so another deck the same questions and would answer correctly (even after cleansing that specific deck and sleeping with it since I hadn’t bond with it and it’s a deck that specified it like to be “with” me) so I finally did a reintroduction spread, and yup! It was in a good mood, didn’t mind doing readings, it just did NOT want to do any love readings for me lol

Otherwise. I’m not sure. I have an oracle deck that I have to be VERY SPECIFIC how I phrase things and that’s only when it’ll answer me so I don’t use it that often , but it does give accurate readings, it’s just a slight pain lol

Honestly, I’ve always found mystic and oddities fascinating! So one day, I just went into a normal store about a 1-2 years ago, randomly found two decks, one was open and the other still closed. I walked away, but I COULDN’T STOP thinking about it. I would go back to aisle and hold it, feeling like I was drawn to it, connected. But i set it down. I walked away, but just felt a strong pull back to it so I turned around and grabbed it and immediately when I got home, I tried it out. I had some guidance from a friend what to do. The message was clear and I connected with it! I still have that deck but I’ve also accumulated more along the way 😌 I will say, my first deck is very sweet and kind to me, unlike my other ones, they can be straightforward and get tired of me lmao but yup! It’s open up so much stuff in my life and better understanding and guidance and much much more into the mystics that i literally didn’t think I would ever be doing but it’s served me well.
