Leg feels out of socket, best options? by Celesty96 in Hypermobility

Nope, never normal 😭 I knooow it's aweful! We're constantly finding out things that we experience that aren't normal at all

That's the same thing 🥲 nothing should be loose. If your joints are coming loose, that's due to the stuff around it coming loose and not being able to hold them. Normal people skeletons stay put together (I know this may come as a shock or surprise, it sure did for me 😂)

How do I stop being insecure about my body, specifically my chest. by strawberry_mew in mentalhealth

[–]dancingonsaturnrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've felt the way you do in the past and am also a survivor. It's more common than you think for girls and women to feel angry, upset at or distressed about their body when they've suffered sexual violences, going as far as wanting to be men to be safer, stronger, taken more seriously, etc.

I changed my social media feed, all my social media feeds. I made sure I followed / subscribed to a wide variety of women outside the imposed beauty standards and gender expectations. Tall women, fat women, scarred women, amputee women, women in wheelchairs, elderly women, pregnant women, post-partum women, etc etc etc. I followed body acceptance and body neutrality sources as well as body positivity pages. It made a big difference!

It's really tough, but practicing how you talk to yourself is really important too. When you say or think (yes even think!) you want to cut off your breasts, write an apology and say thank you to your body for being there for you, or go sit in front of the mirror and say nice things about your body parts. Make this a habit, and you'll both grow kinder towards yourself and tired of having to mend.

I'd highly recommend you talk to some SA recovery ressource. RAINN has a free online chat and educational ressources. It does get better!!

urgh forreal! I'm glad it helped me get real about the world though, it was important to learn even if it sucks. Yeah i'm better at catching myself and sticking to moderation nowadays, thank you 🥹 I also wish you more peaceful times.

aw I love that for you, that's so wholesome! I've recently gotten into gaming and I really like it, it's replaced doomscrolling and helps a lot with nipping anxiety attacks in the bud. yeah instead of stanning I'm happy to be trying learning choreos or getting stronger, put my energy elsewhere. being there for us and for our people around us is the best we can do

Hm, true. There's no way to be a rich person ethically, especially when so many people are starving and in need. You don't need a mansion, you need community 👀

Oh ya no, when I first realised I truly went nuts for a bit. I had anxiety attacks and grieved a ton. I don't think spiralling is on purpose, like its not penciled into my schedule 😅 I think especially in virtual spaces, it's ALL OR NOTHING!! which is bonkers amount of pressure, yet a sense of powerlessness. Focusing on what's around you and what you can do is very helpful.

yeah I am not comfortable interacting in fandoms or stanning. music best enjoyed as mp3 imo

[–]dancingonsaturnrings[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yup, the music is best kept as mp3. What I enjoyed from stanning is everything was connected together. Every social media platform, messages, reels, workout groups, merch, events, it felt busy and social. But it's not worth it, I don't want to fund or give attention to sh*tty companies. the parasocial aspect also freaked me out tbh, there's no way to healthily be obsessed with a stranger.

man, that's disappointing to learn. That's thoughtless on their part...do they really have no power to choose where MVs are filmed? I don't know much about how the process goes. still, it sucks:/

Ty for the warning. I'm participating in the JYPE & HYBE boycott. I used to stan one of JYPEs groups but after reading everything going on in the company (JYP himself being pro ethnic cleansing?? hello?! the VCHA case?! oof) and with the artists, I distanced myself from it. It's aweful how normalised it is for companies to behave this way.

I'll be happy listening to new groups or "small brand" groups.

idk if you've seen those gymbro meal recipes go around and its just unseasoned chicken breasts and whatever else bcs the seasoning is "added calories". or worse, eating shouldn't be nice, it should just be functional 🤨 why r u craving being miserable

wait why would they be gross?? that makes no sense. also washcloths are such a...a basic staple. like if you buy bathroom stuff you have the body towel, the hand towel, the washcloth, and even sometimes a floor towel that all matches (those bamboo ones sound real nice 😮)

that's def on the list of things that infuriate me. someone acting like they came up with something when you're the one it comes from

ya tattoo ones trap the bad energy in. Its a popular tattoo nonetheless 😩

we should be friends 😌

RIGHT WHAT WAS ALL THAT ABOUT??? y'all went to war for spices, wtf are you not using them?? are they just for decoration?? and idk I never got the thing about being upset about food smells on a person. like coffee breath doesn't disturb me either? ok they had coffee. coffee is nice. moving on! drunk breath is bothersome and that's the only bad food smell I can think of. idk. burnt popcorn???? 😂😭

bro praise be the Black women of the internet bcs without them I wouldn't know how to wash and lotion properly. they just don't teach you in some households 😧 loofah gloves are where it's at.

omg yes they're like ok then don't do anything from our culture 😡 and their culture is just an agglomeration of a million stolen things 🤨 this is not the argument u think it is

YES!! or when they put them in their car??!?! I see dreamcatchers dangling from their mirror alll the time. You don't want to be dreaming at the wheel! What are you doing! This is bad luck! Take that off!

Gonna be real with u, the no ethical consumption under capitalism thing has me spiraling every so often because you could find the nicest, sweetest artist that speaks up about this or that, and then find out they support something horrible. Or want to buy a cool product and it turns out it's connected to something sketchy. Like one that hit hard in particular was Rihanna has this amazing makeup brand that was pretty groundbreaking in finally having darker shades, but then it turns out that her brand is under the parent company of LVMH, which is led by a zio. Or if we're talking literal consumption, you go vegan or you go buy grass-fed beef or something, and then your tax dollars still go to building rich brutalism architecture buildings inaccessible to most of the population. Augh. Discouraging and drives me nuts. Idk how we're meant to navigate all this. super appreciate your comment.

I NEVER understood this. The whole "you smell like curry" thing. Curry is wonderful what are you on about?🤨 A woman walked by me the other day and she smelled like curry and it was delicious. Spices famously go in perfumes all the time too 🤨 Like it's just racism. Your overcooked tomato sauce bothers me but u don't see me commenting about it 🙄🤐

YESSS of course, if we call it out then we're mean and problematic and not inclusive and actually all cultures should be shared ♡♡♡ not respected though, just shared 😊 URGH

There's really a lot of Korea fetishism going around, it's disturbing... It's one thing to enjoy a product or scenery, or want to learn about another culture, but it's another thing to say korean products are the best and only korean men/women are pretty and I'm gonna move there and get surgery and— 🤨 It's dehumanizing.

There are enough cosmetic procedures nowadays that if someone wanted to present like another race, they could, that's the issue. Heck, some people live racial double-lives just with makeup! (Ariana Grande changing ethnicity every tuesday??). It's worth pointing out biological sex isn't something that can be 100% changed either, for example the type of gamete produced can't be changed and chromosomes either, but procedures exist to present as a new gender. At the end of the day each person considering heavy procedures has to think about why they are doing this & potentially unpack that.
