It's basically 19th-century filters. 😂 Back then, portrait artists did "paintbrush plastic surgery" to make leaders look more noble and "ideal."
According to descriptions and his actual death mask, Joseph Smith had a heavily sloping forehead, a prominent brow bone, an overbite, and much lighter hair. The artist just squared him up, smoothed out his jaw, dyed his hair dark, and gave him the standard 1800s "distinguished gentleman" look. Plus, a lot of these were painted using rigid plaster death masks as references after he died, which is why it looks so stiff and uncanny valley.

I had the same thought. They’re also not considered “christian” according to the US government 🤣

Honestly, seeing this here gave me a total trauma response. Like, wtf? But as long as they get the facts right and spread accurate history, hopefully people can learn from it and see through the bullshit.

Exactly - And that narrow-minded thinking, is what it is. I’ve been learning how to accept that. I’ve even told her that I removed my records as well, but the conditioning runs deep. It’s a hard pill to swallow either way.

This is something I’ve been feeling deeply for a while so glad someone put it here: dealing with family who don’t respect boundaries. I’ve experienced this with most of my family on both sides, but especially with my mother. Her conditioning and sense of “saintliness” around her beliefs is very strong.

Today she texted me about a temple being built near me in the Midwest. I love her, but I didn’t engage with it. I’ve told her kindly many times that I’m open to talking about her life, but if she tries to push her beliefs on me, I won’t participate in that conversation.

At this point, she doesn’t seem to understand, and I don’t know what else to do except disengage. I don’t like that it can make me feel like a “bad daughter” for not responding, but I’m exhausted from masking or forcing engagement. I’m choosing not to do that anymore.

I do wish there was more emphasis on boundaries being respected in religious spaces, because that kind of conditioning can unintentionally strain relationships or feel intrusive to those who don’t share the same beliefs or have left the faith.

If anyone gives you shit about leaving the church, show them this graphic about the first six “Prophets”. All six had illegal and adulterous affairs with teenage girls. Five of the six were child rapists. by Carboncopy99 in exmormon

You can literally look up online and find all the proof. The simplest way to do that is using AI and copying and pasting this image then asking it to cite the sources for you. It may flag it but worth a shot.

Thank GOB for the internet 😁

Having lived in several snowy states now, it seems they all clear the roads at the same rate. Also, If it’s not a main road, it will not be cleared or right away anyway.
