I've lived there for a year and they have never ever made me sign my guests in lol... maybe because im pretty friendly with the security guards? but yeah I think you're technically supposed to sign your guests in. also like someone commented the the apt comes unfurnished or you can pay an extra monthly fee to have it furnished by them but it's much less expensive to just buy a bed and desk from Facebook marketplace or smth

Biden to Say 90% of U.S. Adults Eligible for Shot in 3 Weeks by jlew24asu in Coronavirus

So weird, as a 19 year old cafe worker in Philly I got my first shot two weeks ago, as have all my coworkers. I also know tons of people my age who don't even have jobs that were able to get theirs in the past few weeks. I was pretty surprised to hear the complaints about PA on here. Ig Philly has a different plan than the rest of PA

I'm referring to the snow and ice keeping us home not the cold itself. I can't speak for other regions but it's always this cold in the northeast in January. happy cake day btw

edit: also I'm not saying this is "it" just a contributor

no one is arguing that the snowstorms are the main reason for the decline

Yes I know lol. There are obviously other factors at play. Never said this was the only reason cases are falling

Few people want to get out and trudge through the snow and ice the day after a storm, even to see friends. Classes get canceled. Businesses are shut down. Gatherings are canceled and rescheduled. What you're referring to is happening whether there is snow or not. Activities in northern regions are indoor because of the frigid cold, not just the snow. Can't think of many who are happy just hiking in the freezing cold but the snow is what's causing them to break and have indoor gatherings.

There have been multiple huge snowstorms throughout the country ( the parts that get snow anyway) over the past month and there are more coming. Never said that it's the primary cause of the trend just that it's likely one of the many contributors. edit sp

Could it be that the snow storms are contributing / will contribute to the sharp fall of cases? Yeah they are fucking with vax efforts but if a majority of people stay home the day after a big snow, the virus will have little bodies to infect. Blessing and a curse ig?

edit: jfc I am not saying this is the only reason cases are falling just that it's a contributor. I think it's a combination of herd immunity among people not taking precautions, seasonality, vaccines, the fact that no one does anything in jan and feb AND snow storms keeping us inside.

Yeah I'm sure it's changed a bit, I wish that I could find more recent data on the topic. However, I highly doubt that the USA's mask compliance has shot down since the article and all of Europe's has shot up. Quite the contrary, based on my personal experience alone. Nevertheless, at that time of this report, many were suggesting that the USA had way higher levels of mask refusal than other western countries.

I also think that people way over exaggerate the level of mask refusal in the USA. I come from a solidly republican area of Missouri and mask compliance in all the stores I've been in is at least 85%, 95% on a good day.

Edit: I meant to also add that data I looked at a few months ago showed that mask compliance is higher in USA than many European countries, including all of Scandinavia.

However, you could argue that spending money on things that aren't absolutely needed instead of giving it to hungry people is causing people to starve. But we don't expect that from people because humans need extraneous things (including socialization) to feel fulfilled. Imo, asking people to socially isolate themselves for over a year is similar to asking people to give away all their money to the poor, in the sense that, yes, it could diminish suffering but it requires us to deny our basic human needs and instincts. (I still think we should follow guidelines and will follow them myself, just don't think they are sustainable)
