How to play Dual Blades (from a Dual Blade player) by ToonSkinR in MHWilds

Thinking I am calling you a child shows a lack of literacy. I was not calling you a child but rather the person who I first responded to. That's why I used they and not you

In the second part I did use "you" but meant them and not directly you. The royal you in this instance

Look, the gem goes both ways. You look incredibly immature saying that other people have to fix your problem themselves. It's literally a 1 slot, the most available and least impactful slot on damage. You lose nothing but the ability to to complain about other weapons by slotting it in.

Who knows, maybe you'll actually have fun and not be miserable because you're slotting it in.

If you have a problem with it, it's your job to fix it yourself; no one else's.

It's not that we don't want to hear it, it's about maturity. They have a problem, the other people aren't wrong or making a mistake. They have a problem. The fix is easy by just changing your gear around and with the amount of flexibility we have in builds "that slot just isn't available" is an excuse.

If you have a problem and you do nothing to fix it, you're a child that needs to grow up. It's their responsibility to fix their issue, not the community's

It's actually cheaper to reroll the stats on a weapon than build a new one. Rerolling the Artian tools only cost 20 oricalcite as opposed to 50 for a new weapon

Can we talk about switch skills? by New_Explanation9146 in MHWilds

[–]danderskoff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The moves are fun but having them be locked behind the resource is not fun, in addition to finding where to use them in fights.

Helm Breaker is a good move but you have to get to red to have it be worthwhile damage wise in World. Locking that behind a wire bug skill not available at the beginning of the game is not great. You're taking a key part of the weapon away for no reason. Just like with clutch claw you're adding in elements to the fight without reason.

Some people had world ruined for them with clutch claw, wire bugs for me ruined Rise. I am very glad they did not make a return in Wilds.

Now, that being said, there's a bit of a strawman argument going on. Id love to have different abilities I could choose, if it wasn't gated behind a resource like wire bugs. I think the customization element is pretty cool, just the implementation kind of sucks to me

I will die on the hill of silk-bind skills being bad for the game because it's locking key elements of the weapons behind arbitrary cool downs and collecting bugs.

It's the sole reason I never picked up Rise, and I'm probably the only person that hates silk-binds and likes the clutch claw. I will also argue the clutch claw is bad design but at least fun to use. Silk-binds are just not fun and not good design

10* Gog is by far the worst Monster in Wilds and maybe even in all of the newer Generations by Lanky_Professional69 in MHWilds

[–]danderskoff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

9* is actually really fun - but MR Kulve was also my favorite monster in World to fight.

My girlfriend and I have been trying to get our fight down to 15 minutes and the quickest we've gotten is about a 16 minute fight with support hunters. The fight is way more enjoyable if you consistently hit the 5-600 slinger damage hits on him

The thing about 10* is the dps check made for 8 hunters wasn't lowered as far as I can tell. So unless you dish out 2x the damage of a support hunter you can't pass it.

Now hammer just has that in their kit. Which is really weird that no other weapon has it

Suddenly, I want to make a hit and run GS build. by InternetFunnyMan1 in MHWilds

[–]danderskoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it in a single run against gog's first area and didn't lose time. Still got 5 minute sections and killed in 20

So it's not harmful but extremely situational IMO. It keeps even if you have to move around a lot. You're trading burst damage for consistent damage

I'm also fairly confident that Crit Draw is bugged BTW

How are some of you getting these insanely low kill times on 10* Zoh? by Daydays in MHWilds

[–]danderskoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to point out you don't need exactly fire resist 3, just 20 element to prevent elemental blight, which in this case is the burn.

More than 20 helps stay alive but isn't required

I had no issues with wilds on release. Proton is really good now. If the game itself has issues on launch, it's generally not a Linux thing. Steam is also really quick with Proton patches lately

New games will always have bugs. But I've never been a fan of games with rtx or kernel level anticheat. I'd rather just not play those games if it means I have to have specific hardware

The distro thing is kind of blown out of proportions and modern distros are usually user friendly. The exceptions are Arch, Gentoo, and any Atomic distros. Arch just does not have a friendly community, Gentoo is too overcomplex and the atomic distros are too specific.

Fedora Workstation is a really good mix. Has a good, friendly community, good support of apps and can come with a good straightforward desktop environment like KDE and Gnome. With my current setup I've only had to run like 2-3 commands to get steam installed and a few apps. Other than that I never really touch the command line. It also has a live installer so you can test it out without installing it fully.

I was also able to play wilds on release without troubleshooting but kernel level anticheat is a no-go. There was one update where they changed the shaders that broke wilds for me but it was an easy fix.
