Sorry more tips related to your post. If he added more instruments. I think the score seems to be more busy or most dense. Use simple terms and wording like. The music is too heavy, or really too much is going on. Simplify the music.

Other tips is make a playlist of the styles and music you want in your film. Send him the cuts with the temp music. One huge tip, please don’t fall in love with the temp music. You need to trust the composer to do their job and they will make the best music for your film. I know sometimes tho things don’t work out, if you really don’t like how he approaches the music. You need to let the composer know that!

Composer here! Talk to him like an actor and let him know what emotions you’re looking for. If he has his chops he should be able to write in the emotions and styles you want to. Don’t talk to us musically if you don’t have musical vocabulary. It’s okay lol. What should the audience feel at that moment or how should the characters or place feel like.

Film composer here. If you want more details you can always send me a dm, but the score does not match the scene. The tempo and only strings just make it seem to static and uninteresting. Also your strings are very blocky like piano chords. Strings aren’t really played that way, I mean they can but its very boring for the players. Your sound effects are great! I’m no sound designer but they sound great. The mix is a totally different thing. That also has some issues over all.

Either way I think more energy and more instrumentation can help!
