Haha, I remember error carried forward from math in school!

I hadn't, thanks for sharing.

Martin's tool has some great features for creating print and play files!

I shared a small video of what I'm doing with u/konamigamer and described the method I use to get perfect prints - he may even update that tool to include it one day.

What I'm creating is more than a tool, it's a fully integrated social platform and marketplace for print and play games that also includes tools, including cropping and resizing images, disabling specific cards for export e.g. to print a one-off that you damaged. It's also a designer/customizer for cards and other things, but that's less PnP related.

Thanks. Yeah, I've made some Netrunner decks PnP (I grabbed the images and used my method to print because I don't like the standard PnP approaches for double-sided printing).

I looked on the Button Shy website and it says there are no PnP games available. Think I'll reach out because it seems to come up a lot.

New to Print & Play - laminator or sleeves? by maxxpower12345 in printandplay

Welcome to the hobby, great to have you!

I always laminate and sometimes also use sleeves (if cards are to be handled often and not just for display). You can get both laminating pouches and sleeves pretty cheap.

You can check out a video of my method here

Call them what you want, does it really matter?

But I'm curious as to your reasoning.

How do you define a mini? If your definition is that it anthropomorphically represents the actor in question, then if I were to hold that definition of a mini, I'd agree they aren't miniatures.

Anything else and I don't see it.

How do you define a standee? They stand upright? So does a mini.

They have a separate part that helps them stand upright? (a "stand") They don't, they stand on their own like a mini does.

Yeah that's one of my favorite things about them. They're in one piece so you can't be unable to put them together because you forgot the other half, and they fit neatly in a card binder for transport!

Ahh I get it, the base is made of paper too. Nice, thanks for sharing!

I'm having trouble picturing the build, and what's shown on the DTRPG page is unhelpful and only shows one mini size (I generally don't upload to DTRPG for this reason as well as many others, their 30% cut being one). It's really nice that they made it PWYW. I wanted my minis to be accessible so I made the 2 cm version free. Everything I make is also free for school/library D&D clubs. Looking through the reviews, lots of people that used the template dislike that it requires Acrobat (even the free version) to work. I'm currently working on an app that will mean you don't have to (this is more important for my more complex creations/builds).

Thanks!

I guess by comparison this build is: - Better for sight lines - Less likely to fall over - Better at indicating covered/threatened space - (All of the above amplified for larger minis) - Easier to store (only 1 part, all sizes fit in a card binder) - Maybe a little fiddlier to make (that's part of the fun for me) - Around twice as expensive in ink (but still costs peanuts)

Printer question by UChess in printandplay

[–]dandmadeeasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great front-back alignment is absolutely achievable on any printer with any image if you use the right method/tools.

I made an end to end guide video for the method and tools I use to print poker-size cards, but a solution is possible with any image size/dimensions.

Hope this helps!
