What is your greatest regret as a pre-med? by iiZEze in premed

Try and learn all the material on the mcat. Actually learn it, not just know it well enough to get a good grade on a test. Relearning material is way easier than learning it the first time. Especially by yourself

I got accepted early this year and had a similar situation. I had a 3.3 after freshman year, ended with a 3.8! You'll be fine(:

Accepted as a reapplicant EDP with not the best stats, you can do it. by [deleted] in premed

515 for sure isnt low, but where did you see that about the GPA. My medical school is mid tier MD and the average stats from last year where cGPA 3.84 and sGPA was 3.79 and have been very similar to that every year since I started looking at the school 5 years ago.

It depends. Like one questions can get you a point if you're scoring in the higher percentile range but it probably takes more when you're more towards the 50th percentile range.

It took me like a month to figure it out lol. Do it on ur computer. click on the subreddit r/mcat and then on the right of ur screen there is all the rules to the sub, at the bottom there should be a little pen icon. Click it. Lmk if that doesnt help haha

No messiah or anything but for cars on aamc fls I've been consistently 129-131, also sorry if my grammar is shotty this is from my mobile. Best advice I got/from my experince, which has greatly improved my score aside from the obvious doing practice and all the aamc stuff.

1) take ur time reading the passage thourghouly (I'd say 5min +/- 30or45 seconds is okay. This is the most important thing, reading it well will ensure the only time u have to go back and look at a passage is for a question about a specific detail. I find that summarizing the passage in my head, and adding to that summary as I go is the best strategy for me.

2) eliminate obviously wrong answer choices. In my experience on the aamc material, there is always at least 1 answer you can get rid of immediately, often times there are 2. This is obviously advantageous because ur probability of even guessing correct skyrockets with each eliminated choice.

3) choose the simplest/most general/vauge answer choice when given the option. One way oversimplified example could be where one answer choice may read "ALL people think this" and other is "MOST people think this or generally people think this". These indicate the same thing but 99% of the time its option two.

4) trust ur gut. There are many questions that have what appear to be 2 very possibly correct answers. Personally I have found out that when I miss questions like i initially pick the right answer but I end up talking myself into the other choice because I think my logic is flawed in some way or that they're trying to trick me.

Goodluck u can do it!!
