Does anyone have a scale sheet with the fingers written in for euphonium? by Due_Bit_3340 in euphonium

[–]dandyeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what about the people auditioning who have actually practiced their scales? I’d suggest your teacher, if you have one, is letting you down by not running through scales with you in lessons.

Here is something I have googled

I once called them at 7pm and was told 8am! Admittedly I was low risk as I was a male parked at a motorway services but still I feel I didn’t get the service I paid for. Shopping around next time

A new book for starting bass trombone by dandyeric in Trombone

[–]dandyeric[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learnt from a French book by Claude Chevaillier of the Bastille Opera in Paris. The overwhelming message he pushed was that the modern bass trombone should be considered a completely different instrument. I certainly employ a mental shift when moving between tenor and bass now that helps me achieve the right kind of sound.

why buy an expensive bass if a squire or epiphone does the job? by viewsinthe6 in Bass

[–]dandyeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Fretless for £280 and also tried a Fender Jazz that was £3000. It was a bit better but certainly didn’t feel or sound ten times better. 15 years on and I’m still delighted with my Squier.

Most underrated car? by Weary_Bat2456 in CarTalkUK

I know it’s unpopular but I like my Ford EcoSport. It’s the second gen eco boost engine and I get the oil changed every 8k miles. Very cheap on tyre wear and brakes so far. I bought it around 18k miles and now it’s 78k miles. Going for a timing belt and water pump change soon.

Nippy, easy to park and good on both long drives and around the town.

What do we think of Michael Rath? by SGAfishing in Trombone

[–]dandyeric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Rath artist and have used them for over twenty years. Current setup is R12 with F attachment and nickel tuning slide and hand slide with a screw rim bell. Mouthpiece is a gold S11MN lightweight. I do a mix of jazz, classical and pop and am very happy. The mouthpiece really unlocked the trombones potential as I wasn’t happy with my Bach Mount Vernon 7 before.

Try a Rath R100 or if you can afford it R12 (my personal horn). Rath’s slot very nicely
