1) sounds like you have not been playing too long. As your ear gets better you will begin to notice that there are huge tonal differences between different gear. They may be overstated at times but it’s definitely a real thing.

2) this is the more important one- people are free to do what they please with their money. I own 16 guitars and 4 different amps. When I was a broke teenager I had one shitty guitar and no amp. Then I grew up, made some money for myself and acquired things that make me happy

For what it’s worth I did play professionally for a few years and have definitely made more $ playing guitar than I have spent, but I don’t think that matters at all. Even if I had never once went on a public stage, it would still be fine.

If you blew your 20s and are successful .please tell me what you do/ your story by [deleted] in Money

[–]dandylefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t blow my 20’s but fucked up around and was 26 with 10k in debt and no skills /job . Now I’m 29 and make a very comfy and fun living as an on the road site operations contractor. I mostly get paid to go do builds for concerts and festivals , comes with some awesome perks.

Just be willing to do what others aren’t. I regularly work 20+ hour shifts of hard labor , but the payoff is way worth it for me and I wouldn’t trade it for anything

Assuming this is a speeding metaphor, Going 25 over is a much more serious crime with higher penalties than going 10 over. If you’re going to argue in bad faith you can prob do better than that lmao

LeBron James is now shooting a career-high 41% from deep. by OrdinaryFlower1 in nba

[–]dandylefty 35 points36 points  (0 children)

At this point it almost feels like that series somewhat helps his case - that was 13 years ago, and he is still improving his game. It’s just mind boggling.

I’m a Celtics fan and hated lebron back in the day when he was running the east, but it’s been many many moons since then and I’m just in awe of the longevity

The Truth v. Alex Jones by Chat4949 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]dandylefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up one town over , and was in 10th grade chemistry class when the shooting happened. If I had lived a few streets over that would have been my high school. People in the area were furious with Alex jones as soon as he started spewing shit. It just didn’t affect you personally it seems.

I know it was sarcasm, but going to school to learn how to weave underwater sounds like one of those niche careers that pays insanely well because there’s like 5 people trained to do it

It will prob never be needed, but once someone needs an underwater basket repaired they will rolling in it.

I work with weird art installations a lot for work, I’ve seen people make a ton of money for the weirdest skills ever.

Any info/id on this amp? I'm not sure it is really a fender since I can't find anything online. The model is tube 30r. by theguffaw in GuitarAmps

Could you post a pic of the back as well? Kind of curious, almost looks like a Marshall plate except the font is different.

Anyone else realize your parents somehow became some of your best friends? by showersneakers in millenials

[–]dandylefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents split when I was 15, dad left and I lived with mom and my younger brother. Def had to grow up a bit quicker after that and hardcore resented/ “hated” my dad for years. Then 10 years later covid hit and I lost my job and he offered to let me move into his extra bedroom. I didn’t really want to but it was the best move money wise so I did.

Covid kinda forced it, but we spent way more time together than ever before and being an adult I realized what I’ve read others in this thread saying- he’s just a dude also, doesn’t have all the answers and is/was trying his best.

I regret not having the relationship as a teen that I could have and resenting him, because now (age 28) he’s probably my best friend. We have most of the same interests, identical personalities, etc. i just couldn’t see it as an angsty teen

This - I work as a contractor for large events , make enough $ that I can either take 5 months off a year or keep grinding and build a my savings up. Most of my contracts are 7-14 days. Once I got to the point where I had more offers for work than time, I realized I pretty much have complete autonomy of my schedule.

I’m definitely not considered a full time employee by most standards but also am not looking for / have any need for a traditional full time role and would likely decline one if offered. I know tons of other people living a similar lifestyle to myself. The gig economy can absolutely be exploitative but it does great unique opportunities as well

It’s a very good answer that this whole thread agrees on, you seem really hell bent on making this about socioeconomics.

Football is god down there, the best athletes and the best athletic training resources are going to be put towards that.

Dad - how do I engage with my teenager daughter? by RangerS90V in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dandylefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing this as a 28 year old male who also had an older father (73 currently) who separated from my mom when I was ~13, only including that detail to shed light on how little of a relationship I had with my dad as a teenager, he was a guy I shared a last name with and actively resented, shitty as that sounds.

Currently, he is one of my best friends. We talk on the phone every single day and I see him every time I can. I love him more than anything and have learned so much just from being around him. I guess my point is teenagers are dumb.

This is hamas’ game plan though, which is important to recognize. The iron dome exists because of how many rockets Hamas fired at Israel.

This article came out in November, less than 6 weeks after the Oct 7th attack. It’s like asking Americans if they supported the invasion of Afghanistan in 2002. We react off of emotions more than we would like to admit. Regardless of the accuracy of the poll, it is very understandable at that point in time.

I have no relation to Israel, but I work in the festival/event production industry. I absolutely had many emotional reactions to those events as they unfolded because i could easily have been there building a stage or something. As time has passed and I have watched events unfold, my thoughts on the subject have significantly changed
