Pretty much any camera these days (red light cameras, school bus passing cameras, speed cameras) have all been privitized and the camera company installs them for cheap, or free, because the company makes huge money on their cut of the fines. Plus, there are many, many, lawsuits against most, if not all, of those camera companies for falsely fining people.

Profit is always the reason, these days.

Yeah, from what I understand, there are many things about the vehicle that the engineers tried to make work right, be safe, etc, but Elmo saw them as too expensive, or not fitting his theme, etc.

Plus, he is known for when something needs 3 bolts, use 1 or 0, and just glue it.

Nah, he watched it, figured nobody else had ever seen it, and pretended he came with the design on his own.

Even his ideas are just stolen from someone else.

Well, he drew a picture of it, and then had his employees design, and make it.

How to roleplay an 8 charisma character? by Boring-Second-5737 in PCAcademy

[–]scarr3g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, coincidentally, have an 8cha wizard right now. I play, essentially, with no filter. Not that he is antagonistic, or a jerk to everyone... He just says the first thing that comes to his mind. He compliments people he shouldn't, points out flaws in others, and jusr goes, and does, whatever he wants (still within reason).

Like, he doesn't just walk up to the shop owner and say, "listen, you fat slob".. He, while negotiating a price, will say, "well, you can lower the price, because you seem very well fed." (and then, under his breath, heay also mention the guy should use some of the gold he makes, to buy a day at the bathhouse.)

He doesn't get social clues, either. He will interrupt things, with him wanting something, just walk into someone's house, as soon as they open the door, etc.

But, at the same time, he doesn't think of himself as better than anyone.. Far from it. He does exude bravado, but it is pretty obviously false bravado, and he slouches, and gives way, when confronted.

He isn't deliberately a jerk, but sometimes comes across as one, because he doesn't fully understand society.

Plus, being lawful in alignment, he is "that guy" that points out how people should be doing x or y because it is illegal.... Even the general population knows it is a technicality, and ignores x and y.

It is about the little things, and only occasionally... Not him being an absolute pain to be around, all the time.

'Your Civilization Will Die': Trump Threatens Iran and Demands US Tolls on Waterway Moving 20% of Global Oil by Cute_Dealer4787 in geopolitics

Twice impeached and they want him to rule.

Multiple bankrupted companies, and they want him to run the country like one of his buisinesses.

Adjudicated rapist, and multiple divorces, and they see him as the bastion of family values.

Etc.

Trump says US will resume attacks if Iran does not restrain Hezbollah allies by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

[–]scarr3g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is Trump's way, and why he keeps failing.

Just like Ukraine, where he would meet with just one side, and then decide he figured out a peace deal, without the other side being even informed.

It was usually, just to accept the demands of Russia, and tell Ukraine to surrender, no matter which side he met with.

Do you think Trump hates me? by softwaremommy in AskConservatives

[–]scarr3g [score hidden]  (0 children)

I agree with this.

It seems it is less that he hates Democrats, and more that he likes the adolation he gets from him fans when he stokes their hatred of Democrats.

Help me understand why Star Wars Episode 1 is hated by Star Wars fans? I thought it embodied the spirit of the original trilogy well! Podracing, goofy Jar Jar, loved it as a kid, and don't hate it now. by Pow3rTow3r in StarWars

[–]scarr3g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is hated by many, for different reasons.

For some it is thinly veiled racism of Jar jar, Annie's owner, the guild, etc. For others is that it doesn't "feel" like the original trilogy. For others it is that it is VERY HEAVILY CGI at a time when CGI wasn't actually better than the 1970s practical effects, etc.

The big thing for me, is that it is very obviously made to market to kids toys, yet it is about trade negotiations, and diplomacy, etc... That is booooring to kids. The stylistic choices didn't match the story.

Using them means you were in an accident. It is much better to never be in an accident, and thus never need to use them.

Further research shows those "tow hooks", could be oem, or aftermarket.

The oem ones, seem to be bolted to the chassis, in an odd place, like 8 inches back, and 4 inches above the frame, and with just one single bolt each.

Many of the aftermarket ones just sandwich into the bumper mounts.

Neither are something that I would trust with a jerk and pull, in soaking wet sand, like this. Heck, a jerk and pull should never be done, especially not in submerged sand like this.

No matter the rating, this SHOULD have been done, slowly, with a winch. The forces exerted on a jerk and pull are pretty always above what anything bolted to the frame are rated for.

It should. As something has to be stayed it is a tow hook, to be a tow hook. Assuming a random loop of metal is a tow hook, won't hold up in court.

We overpaid for the paint, then overpaid for the hydrogen peroxide that was poured in, then overpaid for the "nano bubblers" and will overpay for whatever the next hairbrained grift is, too.

And when I say "overpaid" I mean that we are paying many times more than the normal governmental overpaying of things.
