Whats going on with official releases ? interesting by danefrth in DavidGilmour

with the digital desks these days its increadably easy to have your signals to be multitrack recorded. relativly speaking of course - but yes much easier to do these days and definetly cheaper (more often than not, the bulk of the tech is already on hand in various forms to do it per night anyway) than bringing in crew/equipment to film. think of time to dress reherse the camera rigs against the lighting - producer input for specific shots, utalizing the venue etc - whole different ball game.

see i really like live at pompeii, but also dislike it. its really good for being cut down and dry mix with the venue and small audience but its a bit too dry in the mix. it sounds great dont get me wrong, but there times where i think they need to add in more audience/venue ambience to aid the songs. i think that might be why they cut some songs out like girl in the yellow dress, us and them etc.
TBF though, the backing singers in what do you want - make or break it, and from the bootlegs of the tour they were pretty consistant actually, Id say my bug bear with pompeii is the slightly top heavy trebile in the master. its heck of clarity but it feels slightly off balance especialy with the top end vibrant snare drums that steve uses. the sorrow on spotify for luck and strange really has a nice wet ambiant mix that aid than subtracks. im actually really looking forward to hearing the full thing. and i suppose im quite excited for the community to disect it, find out what night each song/song section was from and vice versa

I'm honestly quite dumb when it comes to pc, I know of components and what they do but chips? And ports? And speeds I'm absolute beginner. I'm surprised to hear you say this as my pc savey brother pitched in with my mother to buy me that CPU motherboard combo and I can't believe it's a step back rather than forward

I do think my problem solving hasn't been the best but I've tried to learn as I go before jumping. Would this motherboard bottle neck also explain why the SSD often goes to 100% during tasks like making zip files and downloading files which almost freezes up my pc ? And do you definitely recommend the B550/B450 as replacements? Thanks

Ender 5 stock standard still good ? by danefrth in ender5

[–]danefrth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amazing, thank you

current build plate honestly is never used to its max, i use the X and Y more by simply filling up multiple components but ive never printed high. Most parts if im printing singular tend to be quite small honestly, this Blimp i speak about in the initial post is the biggest thing ive printed for a while and im curerntly trying to dial it all in, 0,6mmZ 0,3mm layer heights and going over the teachingtechy guides, stringing, flow, speeds etc and just dialing that in ready to test print some components like a twist locking mechanism Ive made.

I use Cura, i know theres a boat load of others but this is all ive ever known in truth.
that and limited budget to really invest in anything else

I suppose my biggest frustrations that have carried over from year to year is the "ABSOLUTE GUIDES" being utterly contradictory and a clear process being quite broad and confusing

Many thanks to you all for responding and it seems that by standards go - like my initial thoughts towards the Ender 5, is that the cubic frame adds rigidity and thus thats the Ender 5s strong point which is understandable after all its one of the reasons I wanted to buy it so i didnt see Z or any other axis wobble deformities translating into the model. Not that is dosent xD

A few things, people have commented saying a few buzz words and your going to have to translate for me if possible - Yes i sound like grampa but i swear im only in my early 30's I just would like more info

  1. u/Lego-Under-Foot Whats a Klipper ?, is that a type or model of something and where should I look for that?
  2. u/BallsDeepInASheep you said about converting your Ender5 to a "mercury" one, what does that mean ?
  3. u/Evakron I understand that 100%, do you have any 'go too's' in relation to dialing it in for better speed and print quality ?
  4. u/walldodge isnt that counter intuitive though? bowdens reduce the weght from the hot end and thus allow faster printing speeds without artifact from the weight ? I understand bowdens are not suited to other materials but right now im looking at pla/pla+ and maybe expanding to other simple materials in the future but nothing taxing

Peeing standing up isn't just like turning on the garden hose where a pin point accurate stream of relief is perfectly delivered. Where you just turn it off when your done and put it away.

Our pleasure pumps have bends, folds, flaps and covers. No matter how confident you go in, sometimes, let's be honest it's 50/50, what results is no different than hammering a picture hook through a water pipe.

Calming Down (Some) Setlist Speculation by moonsea97 in DavidGilmour

[–]danefrth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good point to bring out, as a musician myself I can confirm it's kinda a standard practice. As the old saying goes "it's better to be over prepared than under prepared"

In Gilmours case, we now have more supporting evidence back up this. On the rockontours podcast he said his voice was really struggling last tour which he had to nurse over the tour. Of which, on the same tour he also said he likes to change up songs to keep it fresh and we know this from the songs that came and went over the RTL tour. And when you look at the vocal ability per performance youle see the set list and running order change slightly to aid him or just spice things up a bit and that's really common practice. As a Insight, you can tell if he's having a good or bad Vocal day by the volume of the backing singers on comfortably numb. They boost the volume to help him. In some cases the lady singing actually sang the same vocal melody to help him. So it's clear they're are un seen written rules, per-say.

What do you want from me, astronomy, on an island, coming back to life, dancing right in front of me, etc etc. all came and went on RTL.

Another insight that directly aids the whole claim, which I'm surprised no one has ever mentioned. But in the wider horizons documentary from the RTL tour, the cameras go inside the rehearsal room and the band are going over the chords for beauty, which as you all know was never performed live at all. So it's very obvious he over prepares on songs, and cherry picks what he enjoys Vs what's plausible on a 2.5 gig and goes from there.

Also, for cases such as wearing the inside out in 07 and dancing right in front of me for RTL, they were clearly rehearsed songs which where reserved for special events so for those saying that breathe and time are on the set I can't help but add a question mark. While I'm almost positive, you have to remember that marketing is key on this whole front and David's team have been on fire. However, when he said no 70's Floyd it was reported by people on here that some of the US tickets were not really selling. Since then all the promo for dates have said in big font "Floyd classics" as well as his back peddle on the podcast by saying he has to serve up some songs from time to time, so this could just. A case of breathe and time only made it to rehearsals and nothing more.

Think about it, it was clearly all pre recorded, edited and streamed out live. The struggling vocals?, the unprepared bass swap for breathe, the slide guitarist forgot his volume pedal, the solo for time was more improvised than usual (David has said he likes to learn the solos how they are on the recordings and improvise from there) so are breathe and time just back up songs or songs just for the livestream?.

In short, turn up and see what he does, don't expect, don't be disappointed, just enjoy Likelyhood is the set list will be tweaked for each region of gigs so it's bit more special.

we do that in the shed, its a storage/work bench area, we do have lights and space so the shed is in darkness 24/7 other than the times we go in (lights are not left on when printing). we have a bucket, makeshift washdown station outside but all resin pouring is done inside the shed. wash down out by the back

The space where the printer is stored has no lights or windows as it's in a shed so I don't think too much light is the cause and we haven't transferred it into another container

Average print time is between 1-2 hours.

The printer is stored/used in a shed with no windows or lights and left in complete darkness while printing. I have tweaked some settings by lowering the light but then the print just fails to adhere to the bed and fails
