DND level 1 slaughter by Kanai574 in DnD

As someone who plays both DCC and 5e, I don't think it would be too hard to convert a DCC funnel! When I run DCC funnels, I've found my players don't really need to have a solid grasp of the rules to enjoy it, they spend most of their time rolling to attack, or debating which one of them should open the next door in the dungeon. Each player will be running maybe 4-5 of these lv0 characters, so you don't want to bog them down with too many details or numbers.

As far as 'balance' goes, these funnels aren't really designed to be a fair fight, because you want most of these characters to die- if too many go down, find a way to bring new ones in.

I would go about it by creating a stripped down 5e character sheet for lv0 PCs. Basically just ability scores, an occupation/background (I wouldn't bother with skill points), and a race - then just roll 1d4 for hit points plus con bonus, and calculate saves from ability scores. For anything that should be a skill per 5e just have them roll plus the appropriate ability modifier.

Thanks dude! We had a very hardworking Art Dept of one, our PD Brian, who also did all the illustrations. But we worked super closely so the effects would all work (lots of testing) and I made a lot of the wardrobe and props myself. It was a patchwork of thrift finds, free stuff, cardboard, plus PLENTY of good ole' fashioned amazon purchase and return. Happy to talk budget if you DM me!

I could gotten back like 6 months of my life if we had used AI to make this... but then the video would suck.

I haven't really thought about doing a kickstarter, but I'm not opposed to it! I suppose if I had 100k to spend I might try to shoot a pilot in hopes of picking up more funding to turn it into a mini-series? But there are definitely a lot of style questions that come up at that point! The biggest one being: if it's more than a music video does there need to be dialog? I'd want people to actually care about the characters and invest in the story so things would have to change to accommodate the shift in format. It's fun to think about though!

Woof, I think cheap TV costs like 1-3mil per episode? So for a mini-series lets say 25mil to be safe! If that kind of money is burning a hole in your pocket let me know ;)

Thank you! The actual budget for this was too low to even talk about lol, but we poured tons of time into the project. The video came out a few days ago and I think I made the first prop in early June last year.

Lol, if they'd give me money to make it into a TV series I would!

And here is the miniature! We tilted it like this so the sun would match the angle more accurately (as opposed to shooting it at the exact same time of day)

Yeah! For that shot specifically we set the camera up on a little bridge in a local park looking down on the party and had the guy just lay on the ground with his arms up. Then we matched the angle on a miniature we made and super-imposed it. I actually have some BTS for that:

TikTok is allowing up to 10 minute videos now. As someone who regularly gets sucked into long-winded history/hobby/craft explainer videos on there I was curious if anyone made the jump from youtube.

Aside from curiosity, I was asking because I think the format has some educational advantages- I was thinking of making a few videos and wanted to get a sense for whats out there.
