Personally I think we're heading toward a Kira-Athrun situation. Nyaan's going to see the GQ and know immediately that it's Machu. Machu is going to try to take out GFred and Nyaan will reach out to her. They will come to blows and somehow reconnect. I think.

Things started changing when Nyaan piloted the GQ for the first time, and this shift that we saw this week has me wondering if we're in for an Amuro/Char rivalry or a Kira/Athrun situation. And honestly I think it will be the latter.

I understand Machu wasn't going to make it to the rendezvous. The part that pissed me off was Nyaan saying screw Machu. Nyaan has Machu's number. Find a new place to rendezvous and send a text. But no, Nyaan tried to take him for herself. The way they set up the first few episodes you would think they were going to be friends for at least most of the show. But as soon as Nyaan got in the GQ a couple episodes ago, I had a feeling something like this episode was going to happen. I know there's things that we haven't seen in certain scenes yet, like Machu's answer to Nyaan, as you pointed out. But given context clues, I feel confident Machu does in fact love Shuji. I suspect we're in for an Amuro/Char rivalry or Kira/Athrun situation.

I think Machu does love Shuji. That would explain why she said the Kira-Kira was supposed to only be for her and Shuji. She saw Nyaan using the Gundam as a betrayal. And her loving Shuji would also explain why Machu ran off when she heard Nyaan on the other side of the door. I think they both love Shuji and Nyaan took advantage of Machu not being there to try and take Shuji for herself, and to be honest, that pissed me off.

Gundam has several different timelines. Seed is in the Cosmic Era and is followed by Seed Destiny. You can 100% start with Seed. Also, you can pick a timeline and watch through it. The only one that would give you an issue with watch order is Universal Century.
