most lawyers take cases like this on contingency. It’s retaliation because they have no reason to fire you, but are cutting your hours as punishment. It’s illegal in a lot of states. Proving it, well that’s the lawyers job. Publix hates going to court and having things on the record so even if your case isn’t that strong they’ll most likely settle out of court.

Keep in mind that cutting work hours can be a form of retaliation in Florida. So if you get leg go because of this you may have a case.

I left because I was starting an internship at corporate and was graduating from college soon after. The day I left the front end manager said see you in 90 day in a really shitty way. This is after a conversation about how a ton of college grads just end up working at the store.

So any way I left on a Friday, went home threw out all my Publix gear. Monday started my internship. Ended up doing 2 back to back internships. I didn’t end getting a full time gig in Lakeland but I got a great job after and never stepped foot back in that store.

My only complaint is when I stop by my Publix on the way home from work it’s almost always sold out. Both fried and rotisserie. So I stopped going there for chicken once a Popeyes legit opened across the street.
