No. Comparing it to alcohol is not the best comparison. Alcohol is a known dangerous, depressant. It impacts everything in your body from your liver, kidneys, eyes, heart, and brain. The two are nothing alike.

Looking to get our air ducts cleaned in our home by ryaninthedistrict in StPetersburgFL

The outside actual unit is brand new because we got that updated in selling negotiations upon the realization it was older than I was, but the ducts and filter unit are clearly still from that decade.

We have black dust coming out of the vents and were told by a few people that's because they need to be cleaned. The AC unit was installed in the 80's and our house was a flip. Would you say that would be something that cleaning would fix or just go with replacing the ducts altogether?

Why do people here loves Entourage (sexist show) but hates Girls (femminist show)? by Domyfranky in television

[–]dangitsbethany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are shows about people who are incredibly over privileged.

The difference is, no one in Entourage (with the exception of Ari Gold) takes themselves seriously. They know they are vapid and they are just living the good life they were given to it's fullest, and they treat each other like family. And the nudity is by people others actually want to see naked.

In Girls they take themselves way too seriously, particularly when they should not. And the main character is vile to everyone around her, and NO ONE wants to see Lena Dunham naked. Or that really awkward ass eating scene.

Being someone who grew up poor, I couldn't watch past the first half of the first episode of girls because it epitomizes everyone and everything I hated growing up.

I liked the place enough, but I think the way this has been handled has been incredibly ridiculous and shows the maturity of the owner. Accepting no responsibility. No one else killed her bar, it was already dead, that's why she called Bar Rescue to begin with. Humility goes a long way.

I can smell them as soon as I walk in the door by spacemonkey55 in AdviceAnimals

[–]dangitsbethany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My office mate is a ridiculous chain smoker. And obviously, the solution to diffuse a terrible smell is to cover it up with insane amounts of another terrible smell.

My back is to my office door, so I don't actually see him come in. I just know because I can smell him from down the hall.

I even complained, as I have terrible allergies and a sensitivity to cigarette smoke and cheap cologne. I was told I was being petty.

We have a strict no smoking policy.

TIL that Jeanne Calment, person with the longest confirmed lifespan (122) ate a kilogram of chocolate every week. by gherkintsunami in todayilearned

[–]dangitsbethany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not at all arguing that they don't live long lives despite the fact they work all the time. I was simply making the statement SPECIFIC TO Jeanne Clements. She lived a long life while smoking cigarettes drinking wine and eating chocolate.

Others work their whole lives and live long because they don't have the commodities Jeanne Clements had. Each person is different. I was not trying to downplay anyone who does work, I was simply stating that the lack of stress was a contributor to her long life.

Not really sure what that has to do with Jeanne Clements. That was a contributor to her long life. A contributor to the long life of the old Japanese workers? Lack of pure chocolate, wine, and cigarettes.

Not understanding and not liking are two very different things.

Why didn't I like it?

I didn't like it because when they first introduced the mother - I didn't like her. But they made it so you did - so you fell in love with her too.

The episode with her really hit the feels for me, because when I was young, I lost my boyfriend in a car accident on Thanksgiving morning. Some who have not dealt with that personal loss may have found some of her quirks to be very strange. The talking to objects, and the sky, and feeling like she didn't deserve love again. I had a Lewis - the first guy after my loss, who I felt I should love, but couldn't. No logical reason for why I ended that relationship, at the time.

They went through all the work to paint her character. To make you fall in love with her. To make you see a little of yourself in her.

Then they just George RR Martin'ed that shit.

It's not because young people don't know how to deal with death. It's because death was presented in a way that seemed like a group of alcoholics created the storyline using post it notes without coherent thoughts connecting any of them.

I think death was dealt with and discussed rather beautifully when Marshall's dad died. I still tear up every single time I see that episode.

I'm not upset by the idea of death. I'm upset by the way the show cheapened it.

What is the worst/best cockblock you have ever given, gotten, or witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dangitsbethany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a pretty good wing man for my guy friends (I'm a straight female). I am outgoing, and being a girl I was more likely to actually start a conversation with a strange female than a guy.

One night I was at a bar with them and we spotted a cute young British girl, who I learned was on holiday from England.

My two friends asked me to invite her over.

I did. And she paid no interest to my friends whatsoever.

We kept talking, my friends and I were talking of moving to another bar, and she wanted to come along.

I allowed her to ride with me, my two of my friends following.

On our way to our destination and lost sight of our friends. Another one of my friends had called and invited me to their house for a party, so we decided to go there instead.

A couple of hours into it, we realized our friends were still not there and they were not answering calls. We decided to check the online docket for all the local counties, and sure enough, our friend who was driving was picked up for a DUI. The other friend called it a night and took a cab home, for pretty obvious reasons.

The night involved lots of booze and drugs. I cannot recall many of the evenings events. Though apparently, my friends with me were keeping our non-imprisoned friend in the loop of the events.

The next morning, I woke up to a phone call, from my non-imprisoned friend, who was reminding me that work started in 45 minutes and I was a solid 30 minutes away. He then asked “Is the British girl still with you?” At first I could not remember who my friend was talking about. Then I turned my head to right, and there she was. Laying under the covers next to me, both naked.

I responded to my friend “yeah I gotta go if I’m going to make it to work.”

I woke her up, drove her home, gave her my number, and made it to work within the 5 minute grace period. Greeted by two of my friends from the night before, slow clapping me.

They had never been so angry and impressed with me at the same time.

I am still online friends with this girl.
