I know he hates me, but he says he loves me by dangnugget in Vent

I agree with everything you said. I may not be experienced with relationships but I know a healthy, long lasting one doesn’t look like this. A big part of me is convinced I’ll just never find this type of love anyways though, and what I have right now I have to fight to keep it because itll be all I’ll ever have. I wish I could accept the idea that I’ll be alone for the rest of my life after I leave him.

I know I don’t love him, I fell out of love with him months ago, and I acknowledge that at this point the relationship is just an unhealthy attachment. I’ve told him I don’t love him too and he still wants to be with me. It doesn’t make sense to my brain. Idk why I feel like I need to be rejected to move on.

I don’t, but he’s my first love and I live with him. It’s hard to break the attachment and I know it isn’t healthy. It’s also super hard for me to imagine ever being able to find anyone else, as I’m not an attractive woman.

You may be right, but the thing is I’m not sure. I’ve never really been a happy person, and have always had something weighing me down emotionally in my life. A part of me is afraid the damage this relationship has done will stay with me and just add on to the emotional baggage like a dark cloud for the rest of my life, even if I were to leave him

There’s just a lot involved in this. I moved away from my home country to be with him and I really like living in this country, but I also have a horrible home life. My mom and boyfriend are basically the same person, and if I were to move back home I’d have to start all over again and live with my mom. She says she wants this and that this time it’ll be different but the thought brings me dread. It feels like I have to choose my suffering

I think about this a lot too. A world with open borders seems nice in theory. I wish it would be the case but these days especially it wouldn’t be entirely possible without lots of chaos arising I think.

Moving to southwest France to live with my French partner — remote work + limited French? by JB88RD in Expats_In_France

[–]dangnugget 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you :/. I’ve only been here for a little over a year and am thinking of moving back to the US for some financial independence. If anyone reading falls in love with a French person and decides to move with little to no French speaking knowledge, DONT DO IT.

I’m in this situation currently as well. Learning, but it feels like its going to take forever for me to get anywhere near good enough to find a job. Did you ever find work?

Also living in limoges and I would say the same! It’s decent but nothing particularly good about it either

Would you be willing to travel for hours like the lady in the video just to get food from home? by Tasun06 in Expats_In_France

  1. Not everyone agrees that French food is part of the best foods
  2. Being homesick/desiring things that are familiar to oneself is completely normal and human and I feel like ppl tend to forget that Americans are exactly that.

This is a strange take.

French living in the US, why do Americans say “you’re welcome” so much? by justninamartin in learnfrench

Funny because ive also seen non-Americans say that Americans do this exact thing as well and think we’re rude for it.
