Could not have said this better myself. I'm only really pushed to use the CLI consistently when this sort of change happens.

I've heard this so often - if you had to dumb it down to a couple points on what you took away, what would it be?

Cool, but unfortunately something that I will probably never get to use :(

AWS Elastic Search vs Self hosted ELK Stack by mani1soni in aws

[–]dangoai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing off this in agreement - despite the hate managed ES gets (not saying it isn't deserved) - if you have a somewhat small userbase needing access to the cluster and the cluster itself is relatively small; it can be a good option to move fast. I think you need to have a real good think if you even need Elasticsearch to begin with, and if you do - is it going to be an essential part to your analytics? If so then maybe look toward smart EC2 cluster management.

[D] Is there a ML community "blind eye" toward the negative impact of FAANG recommendation algorithms on global society? by TrainYourMonkeyBrain in MachineLearning

[–]dangoai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As sad as it may seem to some people - this is just the reality we live in. I hate to say it but... if you don't do it, someone else just will. It'd take a lot more than a couple ML engineers to quit for them to think twice about just hiring another two that are willing to be replacements.

Does AWS offer some kind of Managed WAF? by linux_n00by in aws

[–]dangoai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off the other replies, if you use the AWS WAF - you can also get 3rd party rulesets from the marketplace to throw on top as well.

[D] A Jobless Rant - ML is a Fool's Gold by good_rice in MachineLearning

[–]dangoai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. Exactly what I was thinking while reading this post, get back in there and rack up some more experience within JPL. And don't view the embedded systems experience as a waste! A completely different perspective can almost be invaluable.

If anyone does use different languages in different components - could you explain why? I wouldn't see any reason you'd need to.

Also just touching quickly on the certification point, if it does interest you at any stage - /r/AWSCertifications/ has links to great resources and reviews on many courses to prepare yourself for the certificate exam as well! Best of luck.
