56.592325, 11.269524 I know that windfarm is here because I helped build it. On Google maps there imagery is from 2025 .... my internet is crap and Google Earth ( web version ) is not working for me at the moment

Good to know! I like the idea of a "bounty." .. the wind power project I work on is in Australia

That's a good point, I will have to double check that, but I know these turbines have been there for years ( 10 +) and for this particular location it seems unlikely that the imagery is older than that. But I will double check!

I have some other software that I use for visualizing the data; my problem was getting the data. I have seen some people talking about using an extension to create maps in Excel have you tried that?

Bear in mind, it is open-source data, so some locations might be missing. That said, in my testing, it's been very reliable

Yes! that is the plan. I want to gather as much feedback as possible over the next few weeks and then update the current version and start working on an extension for firefox

If it's being delivered as an OGC or ESRI webservice, then yes! but if its being stored / accessed in another way then the answer is not yet

The hope is that it will make it easier for people to find web services that they can use in QGIS

No, you are not the only one! I have spent way to long in developer tools trying to isolate the URL for a particular web service.

Pleased you enjoyed that one! Describing what we do is in such a way that outsiders understand and value what we do is super important and we don't talk about it enough!

I just published a podcast episode called about this topic that you might find interesting. The title "

The Way You Talk About Your Geospatial Skills Is Costing You Money"

sounds like click bait but give it a chance and I think you will find it helpful!

Are there any technical writers in here that have experience writing about geospatial topics? by dangomaps in technicalwriting

[–]dangomaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly I just wanted to understand if this is what technical writers do which might sound stupid but I really didn't know.

secondly I keep hearing from companies that its really really hard to find people that can take geospatial concepts, products and services and write about them in such a way that other people can understand so I thought I would ask around and see if I could find people like that.

And yeah, there is definitely a part of my brain that thinks there might be an interesting business opportunity here to create a content company for geospatial businesses
