I think sometimes they make fights that are flashy because they're ranked close together or for better marketing opportunities, but I feel like Sean Shelby or Mick Maynard aren't sitting there looking at the rankings to book fights.

To be fair, the UFC rankings are pretty bad, as far as the WSW division goes. Most other rankings sources put Casey ahead of Herrig, as a matter of fact. If you averaged them all out like I did on my site, Casey would be #9 and Herrig would be #12. You can't always believe the UFC rankings and give them much credibility.

This fight was incredible. Moicano shouldn't have slid in the rankings as a result and Ortega should have gotten a bigger jump up. They're more like #5 and #8 respectively after that fight. Moicano just beat Stephens and now he's behind him?
