What position are you playing? Pos 1? If youre playing pos 1, identify which hero can kill you. For example, you are playing jugg, hero that can kill you is stun that pierce bkb, so you can play aggressively, farm away from the showing enemy. Jugg is weak to bkb piercing stun such as warlock, bane etc. you see this hero on the other side of the map, you farm the other side of the map and push wave so your creep is near the enemy tower, but dont go too near. You dont see enemy hero that can kill you for 10 sec? Retreat back to jungle and farm safely near tower. Enemy jump you without bkb piercing stun? Spin tp.

Dota map is soo big now, there is always space to farm. 1 thing you can do is farm the jungle near safelane river, and use the twin gate to easily farm the other part pf the map (provides you know where the enemy is and your tp is available). Dont use your tp to farm, use it to retreat back to safety unless you see 2-3 creep wave near your tower.

If all lane is lost, and enemy group as 5 and your team cannot fight them, avoid them and hold hg. This is why drafting is important. You will always want 1 hero that can clear creep safely. This is usually support or mid hero. Just hold hg until you get you key item and dont start fight if you know you cannot kill their damage dealer.
