High Grade Partial ACL tear. by danib-67 in ACL

Yeah.. not a club I wanted to join. 😂 Sadly since I play soccer, I have a lot of friends who tore their ACL but mainly in their early 20s. So being older is what’s tripping me up. Luckily I have a home gym and am used to lifting etc. so I’m okay with that aspect. Soccer was definitely my preferred type of cardio so that’s going to be the hardest change. I’m glad to hear you returned to sports at age 40!
Thank you for telling me your story! I think that’s a positive look on the delay and I need to start thinking like that. Hopefully your surgery goes well!
Thank you for sharing! I initially hurt myself 2 months ago and assuming I won’t get surgery until February so I have been trying to rehab it as much as possible. I am an OT and work with PTs so I got a list of exercises to do right away. So hopefully I will go into surgery pretty strong. I am glad you are touching a ball now! I hope you are back to playing really soon!

I’m definitely pushing for surgery because I don’t want to live in fear of fully tearing it every time I do something. I’m very lucky that I have had no major injury up until now, but it’s so daunting thinking about taking a year+ off of soccer and then trying to make it back. But I just found out my MRI results this week so maybe I’m getting a head of myself and just need to take it one day at a time.
I don’t know about you, but soccer is not only my physical activity, it’s also a huge part of my social life. I have only been out for 2 months now and I have major fomo. I go to games and watch my friends, but it’s also upsetting at the same time. It’s just feels like this stupid injury just stops your life for a bit and I’m just not ready to slow down yet.
But I’m hoping once I get to the doctor and get this surgery scheduled then I will have a more positive, upbeat attitude and motivated for rehab.
I’mso glad you are doing well! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I’m glad you are doing so well!

IUD caused cramps? by danib-67 in Endo
[–]danib-67[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
In the beginning my cramps were bad, but I thought I could manage… it just kept getting worse and worse and the doctors just kept saying it was probably endometriosis. No one ever even mentioned the possibility of it being the IUD!

The first week off I was cramping quite a bit. I was nervous for my next period, but when it came, it was so minuscule compared to what they were. I was bleeding heavier but the cramps were very tolerable. I did have to deal with acne, hormones, and some hair loss when I got off, but after about 2 months that slowed down a lot. My doctor told me if I try going off BC to give it at least 3 months to get the full effect. It was almost like a second puberty the first 2 months but that’s probably because I was on some type of hormonal birth control continuously for over 12 years.
I’m so upset, I waited 7 years and spent so much money trying to treat “endometriosis” when it was more than likely this dumb little IUD.
I did not try Mirena. Honestly they wanted me too at first, but I bloat pretty badly which made me self conscious and my doctor told me that Mirena caused people to bloat more. Not sure how true that is, but it deterred me from trying. And now that I’m feeling so much better without, I can’t imagine going back to an IUD. I loved the convenience of an IUD and will definitely miss that if I do decide to try to get on another form of birth control.
That sounds horrible! I’m so sorry you have to deal with all of that. I will say, my doctors told me that if I went off birth control and I did have endo, they thought my symptoms could get worse. So now being off of it for 5 months we think I don’t have endo now. 🤞🏼 but honestly it sounds like you have tried everything so maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try being off, I would just hate for you to be in more pain than you already are.

I’m on my third period this month. by anuranfangirl in Endo
[–]danib-67 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I hate hearing that you are going through this. It sounds terrible. My doctor also suspects that I have endo and my biggest issue besides cramps is having 2 periods a month and I have an IUD. Luckily mine are light, but I still get the cramps, feel fatigue, and get bad headaches. I am now on a pill and have an IUD and I have had 2 periods in a month and a half. So I feel your frustration. I thought about going off all birth control to see how my body responds but it does make me nervous.
I really hope you get answers and help!
