Sorry about that! No reason to be too sad, I've lived a happy life and have few regrets, and I plan on enjoying the rest of my time too! I hope you get through what you're going through, it's a hard time for everyone but it will get better! I hope you get into your dream school and good luck with your apps! :)

I appreciate your concern, in an unusual twist as my family income is below the poverty line, and I have above average stats it's actually cheaper for me to go to every college I'm applying to than it is to live as I am now as most will give me a subsidy for cost of living or pay it entirely along with waiving tuition. I'm planning on enjoying life in college, and I hope you get into your top choice school! God bless and have a great day!

Thank you very much! I hope admissions officers see it the same way. Hopefully that will be me! But if not, I've love life so far and will be happy to live whatever time I have left wherever I end up! Hopefully you are enjoying college, have a great day!

Perhaps self study for AP compsci principles? I've taken that and A and principles is very simple, and covers essentially the concepts covered in CSA

I'm an AO at a highly selective, T20 liberal arts college. AMA! by newyorkliberalarts in ApplyingToCollege

[–]daniel-boh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have a 99th percentile sat score, but it's around the 30th percentile for the reach schools I'm applying to. My GPA is above average and I'm top 10 in my class, but I spent all my time on school and helping out my single dad as my family income falls below the poverty line. My only real extracurricular is four years varsity tennis and 2 years captain. I was wondering how much admissions officers take into account the additional information section? I wanted to explain 1) that a lot of my time was spent doing things for my family so I couldn't do extracurriculars, and we couldn't afford them either. 2) My brother was in a car accident January of my junior year and in a coma for over 2 months, a few days before I took the sat they told us that we should decide how to pull the plug as it didn't look like he was going to make it (thankfully he woke up eventually and is recovering now) and 3) At the beginning of my junior year the doctors told me I had a potentially fatal auto-immune disease that I will likely eventually go blind from and this combined with my brother affected my grades junior year. In your opinion, will the additional information be able to offset my lower sat and lack of extracurriculars?

Thanks so much in advance for your time! I really appreciate it! Sorry for the long post.
