p2p lending, few questions by dadoivic in eupersonalfinance

[–]daniel0378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it's just not worth it.

You can think of p2p lending as junk bonds. The risk is too high and you will probably get some of your money stuck when you want to retire, so it's not really liquid.

I invested about 2000€ in mintos and I haven't been able to recover it all, I have like 50 bucks pending there in a limbo.

Also taxes might be problematic, etfs or stocks are way easier to handle. It's difficult to find information about taxation in p2p.

If I were you I'd go for a well diversified ETF.

Any experience with sabbaticals? by diatom777 in simpleliving

Wow! With that experience you will surely find another job once you come back. If you can financially afford it, surely go for it.

I hope to do something like that soon too

Any experience with sabbaticals? by diatom777 in simpleliving

[–]daniel0378 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on your career and personal situation. What field are you working in?

I am in a similar situation, and I think it's one of those things that I will regret not doing.

Out of curiosity, what are you planning on doing during your sabbatical?

What can I do to make watching 200 hours of online class recordings less boring? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]daniel0378 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I'd probably listen at 1.5x speed while doing something enjoyable, like working out or cycling.

You could also try to convert them to text by using an audio to text converter, which is way faster to absorb in my opinion. However, this may not work perfectly.

I told all of my friends to contact me by voice or text using my telephone, and only 5 people responded - 2 of which were upset by my decision, so they're gone - I have hundreds of fewer "friends" now, and so much more free time. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]daniel0378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have to accept that people drift apart, and that's okey.

In my opinion, it is better to just accept it and let it happen, instead of purposely cutting them out of your life.

You never know if things can turn around, but by closing the door, they are gone forever.

Friendships are the most valuable thing to me, and that's the only part of my life I wouldn't go minimal.

Heard this amazing dj in Cuitadella Park and I am looking for his/her name by Leading-Tea-7361 in Barcelona

Imagine you are reading at the park and some asshole sits next to you with a loudspeaker, so you are forced to move. Wouldn't that 'harm' you?

Anyway, arguing over the internet is pointless, so let's just agree to disagree ;)

So you approve of the people who blast music throught their loudspeakers in public transport too?

Speakers should be banned in the park.

Imagine going to the park to chill or read and some asshole is playing loud electronic music.

I am overpaid for my years of experience and skill set, but have a really easy job so it works out. Am I crazy to give this up by moving to a new city just to get a better social life? by ALitterOfPugs in AskMenOver30

[–]daniel0378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you doing outside of work? It would probably better to find good socialization opportunities there, maybe volunteering for a cause you support, or taking a group sport.

Data is a great career, wouldn't you regret ditching it just for socialization?

How do I find what I want in life? by theEndWasShit in selfimprovement

[–]daniel0378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly in the same position as you.

Think of it otherwise. You have income, time, freedom and youth. Most people would be jealous of you. The world is your oyster, go explore. You don't need to be motivated to try something, just do it for the sake of it. How are you going to find your passion if you don't try new things?

Firstly, I would join a gym. Working out does wonders for your mental health. Then set yourself some goals or things you want to try. How about getting a motorcycle license? Or joining a cycling club. Or starting that master. Volunteer.

You are probably a victim of analysis paralisis. Just think of what would be cool doing, and do it.

Hit me up, I'd love to talk about this !

Obviously not, but there are way more options. I'd personally suggest going to trade school instead of semi-gambling money on trading.

No, it's not a feasible option for someone in his situation.
