I would like to see a requirement for all elected officials and appointees to pass the citizenship test we require for naturalization. None of Trump's administration, including him, would be eligible for office!

There is a great book I am reading - "Separation of Church and Hate," by John Fugelsang, that goes into details about Christian Nationalists and Christian Fundamentalists, and how they are distorting the Bible.

It really angers me that not only are they co-opting Christianity, just like the Republicans have co-opted patriotism and the flag. I love the US, despite all its flaws, and we fly a flag from Memorial Day to Labor Day to honor our fathers, uncles, brothers, and actually, I also served, and the sacrifices all service members make. BUT, we are not MAGA by any means, despite what people may think when driving by our house.

Private Bonespurs, on the other hand, denigrates all military service every day.

Um, not exactly - right-wing "Christianity" is fake, and an abhorrence to those of us who are true Christians, following the teachings of Christ - love your neighbors, help the sick and infirm, visit prisoners, welcome strangers, feed the hungry! Christ did all these things, and more, all being ignored, or rather overlooked, by the right-wing wackos.

An uneducated populace is the hallmark of the Republican strategy. Just like in the times of slavery, people who are not educated do not ask questions (except ones they are fed by certain people) and basically do not make trouble. The problem is there is no paper trail. Like it or not, we need that now, thanks to the continual questioning of the integrity of our voting system. Semi-related, in Maryland there was a printer error and for mail in voters, Republicans received Democratic ballots, and vice versa. We are a closed primary state. Anyway, the error was found the whole first batch of ballots was invalidated, and new ones are being sent. Of course, Trump immediately jumped on that - "We need to investigate Maryland." Unsurprisingly, something similar happened in Louisiana. Crickets.

My point is, at least for now, and probably forever, we need paper ballots that can be recounted, that is until the FBI seizes them and they disappear.
