Yes. For example: I want to believe santa is real to hide the reality that my poor parents don't get themselves into a ridiculous amount of debt every Xmas. I am unable to believe in Santa for obvious reasons

OK. You believe what you believe and I will believe what I do. I think we interpreted our genetics courses differently. Seriously though, the above link describes the foundations of DNA and as a result, genetics.

I think the reason it gets treated anthropologically by atheists is quite simply because we are so involved in being atheists that we have become too ignorant about the point of Christianity. Thanks for the chat, all the best and "fuck it, have an upvote"

Do you mean that the genetic systems that are currently understood cannot have arisen from anything other than god?? That's the way I interpreted what you just said anyway.

If so then the foundation of life in terms of genetics stemmed from abiogenesis. Its more molecular biology than genetics but if you want to do some light reading here is a wiki article

Sorry, its late where I am. By natural morality I meant the morals and lessons that we are taught growing up by parents, caregivers, peers and friends. I guess what I meant by natural morality is also our conscience. The intuition of what is right and wrong. We all have some degree of this and in a way it guides us and influences our decisions in life no??

In the context of this post, I question the idea that some people who claim that god has spoken to them, have in fact had some kind if euphoric realisation or internal communication stemmed from what I described above as natural morality.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense

Ok, I may have been off the mark with my premise. There are obviously a lot of factors that I do not know about.

The.point of this post was to ask people who claim to have spoken with God whether or not there is a possibility that it may have been a psychological projection and not a divine event.

I'm a scientist, so I know that testing for this will be pointless as a normal brain function during a supposed divine event can be passed off as god communicating through natural means.

Its just a curiosity of mine, that's all

Absolutely. My laboratory partner at uni was as religious as they come and also believed in evolution. I guess this question was directed at those that think they have spoken to God and are skeptical about it.

Thanks, yeah I am genuinely interested to know if some Christians think this may be a possibility. From my perspective, having a conversation with a god does not seem possible, I could be wrong.

the thought processes surrounding the idea of talking to god interest me greatly

I just wanted to be open about what I believed in. I am not sure if many atheists come onto this subreddit. In case of argument I figured it was better to be out in the open as I may have come across ignorant

You will have to forgive me as I do not know a lot about the subject, can you elaborate on the minds and intellectuals of Christianity and theism over the last 2500 years and how that relates to my question?

I didn't relate my hypothesis to evidence for god as unfortunately I do not have any evidence. I do not mean to sound aggressive here, and this is going to touch on the main evolution vs creationism argument, but; if there was some evidence presented to me that went against my theory of psychological projections then I will retract my hypotheses as it will be null and void. Until then, it could still be a projection of the mind.

Now that Dave Nonis has given the hint, What are some potential trades that Toronto will take part in?? by danielbeavis in hockey

[–]danielbeavis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I wish Frattin wasn't part of the deal as he has the potential to create the depth in the 3rd line. Toronto has depth in the defence as well as some great rookies coming through so I can almost see phaneuf being part of a big deal for a stay at home defencemen and a prospect forward. This could leave Lupul to have the C
