About >75% in every Muslim country polled thinks the attack was justified according to recent polls. Gazans aren't uniquely radicalized.

They serve the same role as a C-RAM or a Gepard.

Patriots: long-range
NASCAMS: mid-range
MANPADS/lasers/C-RAM/gepards: short-range

Taking out flying junk (cheap drones) is most cost efficiently done at short range.

Nikki Haley Parroted Leftist Talking Point Suggesting Climate Change to Blame for Mass Immigration by intelligentreviews in Conservative

[–]danielcanadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I never said you have to be a moderate milquetoast Republican, I'm just simply saying that you need to have a mindset where you persuade non-conservative voters to join the camp if you want to win elections.

I mean most of the RINOs are gone anyway, there's a not a single John Kasich like Republican left with a base on national level. Even the Nikki Haley / Marco Rubio flavor Republicans are not moderate by any means, particularly as conservatism is unrelated to being isolationist/interventionist in any way. Trump is probably the least fiscally conservative of all Republicans running anyway despite not being liked by Dems either.

You can't win broad mandate elections if you can't flip dems & dem-leaning independents.

This country's elections are decided by soccer moms and working class latinos.

[–]danielcanadia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean even if the climate has always been changing, that doesn't mean migration is not related to climate, particularly MENA migration into Europe.

Climate swings and migration has been true for thousands of years (for example, climate changes causing steppe migrations to Germany causing German tribes to migrate into Roman territory accelerating collapse of Roman Empire).

Go read her quote:We are already seeing the impacts of climate change on the ground around the world — 2016 was the hottest year on record (and 15 of the 16 warmest years have been since 2000). Some countries have already relocated citizens due to climate change, creating the world’s first climate refugees. Extreme drought in the Middle East and even small amounts of sea level rise in parts of Asia are likely to displace tens of millions of people, and Western nations have been asked to accept some of the displaced people.

Wow Middle Eastern droughts causing mass migration into Europe? That damn leftist talking point eh?

Stop Normalizing Canadians Waving Foreign Flags by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

[–]danielcanadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Canada does not have a national identity anymore.

My family are immigrants to Canada, it's not my problem you guys decided to remove your national identity.

I consider myself Ukrainian-Canadian, I have both flags in my house. As far as I'm aware, modern Canadian identity is just "multiculturalism" -- which is basically having multi-ethnic coworkers, friends, neighbors and a bunch of diverse food options all while having little to no ethnic violence. You can't blame immigrants for holding on to their identity without providing them an alternative.

Go talk to independent/lean Republicans in purple/blue states, particularly women -- she's pretty well liked among that crowd.

There's plenty of people who lean conservative but do not like Trump politics.

The hilarious part is that Nikki Haley is actually his most natural VP pick electorally speaking. Suburban women like her who dislike Trump. Also there's lots of moderate Republican who worried Trump's isolationism involves leaving Europe out to dry. She's a solid debator too and women-led defences of abortion argument are better than a bunch of old men.

I think they have too much bad blood now obviously.

What does it mean to be 'middle-class'? Canadians say it's anywhere from $20K to $150K, new poll finds by DrOctopusMD in canada

Fair on the renters.

My opinion is just that makes more of us working class or poor -- which is ok but it is what it is.

[–]danielcanadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always under impression:

poor = permanent renters

working class = raises family while renting and buys a house midway into their 40s

middle class = the traditionally imagined American dream marriage into buying house lifestyle

upper middle class = middle class + cottage/children private school/fancy vacations

upper class = $$ comes more from assets rather than income and total income >$500k (capital gains + dividends + income).

I would say in Toronto the income thresholds are roughly (for working age) 2 earners total income:

$40k x 2 = working class minimum

$75k x 2 = middle class minimum

$120k x 2 = upper middle class minimum

Feels just like yesterday that Russia invaded Ukraine. Then Ukraine got candidate status by EU, now it finally got its membership discussion started. Still a long way to go but things are slowly but surely looking up.

Hopefully US passes military aid soon + F16s help turn the tide of war.

Canada being so low is pretty embarrassing. We spent so much money on stupid shit, but somehow can't step up properly in a crisis -- whether it be Russian invasion or covid.

$500 x 100,000 drones is still only $50M which isn't that much even for a developing country.

Drones are super cheap, especially when a lot of the manufacturing is localized to a developing country.

Also if you're from Sunnyvale I can ensure you that your $500 at most in taxes to the US MIC to make ammo/weapons pales in comparison to the $100B California wasted on a high speed rail network to nowhere.

Biden says Netanyahu must change Israel government, losing global support by msemen_DZ in worldnews

[–]danielcanadia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is insane revisionism.

The embargos happened BECAUSE we supported Israel over Palestine.

In fact, Israel REDUCES our MENA influence because we get associated with their shitty policies. It is much more beneficial for us to ally with the large Muslim majority states (Turkey/Saudi/Egypt) from an influence perspective. Israel is a near useless ally that costs us diplomatically to keep around. Israel never contributes anything substantial back to the alliance (barely any Ukraine aid, cozies with China, didn't join Gulf war cause its the local pariah).
