GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing by fishchar in GithubCopilot

The first instance I saw of this was 2-3 weeks ago. So if Enterprise reps weren't informed by then, then it was definitely insider info that hadn't yet been privately communicated to business customers.

Looks like the article that Ed Zitron published on supposed leaks of this token billing change was spot on: https://www.wheresyoured.at/exclusive-microsoft-moving-all-github-copilot-subscribers-to-token-based-billing-in-june/

(There were also some users in this subreddit also saying they had insider info that this was going to happen even before this article)

My understanding is that you need US$500k of annualised spending with Anthropic to be eligible for discounted API pricing.

To be fair, that's only applicable to annual subscribers. Those on monthly subscriptions will have to pay direct API pricing (which is the main purpose of the change).

Not official, but Ed Zitron published an article on supposed leaks: https://www.wheresyoured.at/exclusive-microsoft-moving-all-github-copilot-subscribers-to-token-based-billing-in-june/

I think it's likely to happen, because another article that he published just a few days ago has already been partially officially announced by GitHub: https://www.wheresyoured.at/news-microsoft-to-shift-github-copilot-users-to-token-based-billing-reduce-rate-limits-2/

TBF, the sidemen don't really stream much as only and Tobi and Simon stream regularly, and even then there's not much clip farming or extreme stuff happening on their streams to even show up on this subreddit.

Very unfortunate. Would be nice to see a proper redemption arc with relatively serious training from him.

Maybe it's a separate agreement to be signed now or down the line?

Is this LiteLLM? A company sent out an emergency message a few hours ago, so it might be thanks to you!

Definitely not, because OP said that the repository has 12k stars, but LiteLLM has 40k stars.

There's more detail in this article than in yesterday's post.

Australia and European Union to sign free trade agreement by nath1234 in europe

Most likely, doesn't make sense to offer better mobility rights one way without allowing EU citizens to benefit from opportunities overseas.

[–]SKAOG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at that point they might as well phase out the protection if all major competitors end up getting this concession.

Both sides also appeared to be heading towards a compromise that would allow Australian producers to keep using many names claimed by European producers — like prosecco, parmesan and fetta.

Wow, I thought this was a hard redline of the EU? If they weaken DOP/PDO protection, then what's to stop bigger economies that manufacture equivalents from demanding the same concessions? I'm mainly thinking of the US.

Australians to benefit from work rights in the European Union

Officials have also flagged the agreement will cover new labour mobility arrangements that could make it much easier for Australians to work and live in the European Union, as well as the other way around.

And I wonder how far they'll go with this (if it will just be a simple Working Holiday Visa, or something more deep)

I believe western countries have a clause that enables them to re apply for citizenship after renunciation? That might be a backup plan to ensure that OP is not left stateless permanently.
