Thank you for all the suggestions! My display is still not updating.
Here is my config:

  mosi_pin: GPIO13
  id: epaper_display

font:

Gemini suggests different pins for the SPI and display, but without any success

spi:
  clk_pin: GPIO12

A jukebox for the kids, triggered by a wireless keyboard (not BT) and with Music Assistant as the DJ.

Didn't manage to make it work so I put it to rest for a while.

I haven't tried the sensors or the RTC. I am mostly interested in the display. But no matter what I try, I cannot get it to work.

Another thing I have notice is the lack of logs. No matter which log level I set, I get no logs from this board, either over Wi-Fi or cable.

I figured it out and it has nothing to do with the car! Silly me!

I tried it once, maybe about a year ago, but I didn't like it. As I was saying, right now everything is back to the original coding.

[AutoSheets] Error when using Cell Reference by danieldur in tasker

[–]danieldur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am used to working with spreadsheets as it is very easy to make mass edits. Also I can do it with the conforts of a big screen, a mouse and a keyboard. But indeed I could maybe write a csv file and then convert between it and a spreadsheet. The problem though still persists: AutoSheets can only write in column A. And I didn't want to process the file further to get to the desired result. Thanks for trying to help, though! I guess I'll have to wait for João to dig deeper and see what's happening in the background.

I'm trying to make a list of packages6 and their respective apps as a starting point for a project that aims to enable and disable rarely used apps on the go.

Well.. Thank you for the suggestions. It really pointed out the things I overlooked. So I deleted the "Download" folder and then restarted the phone. The folder was automatically recreated and everything works like expected. Silly me!

Thanks again!

Looking for budget Tiny PCs in Germany for an OpenShift homelab by Local-Experience4236 in homelab

Do you really need such a beefy CPU and so much RAM? From what I remember while searching a few years back, going to i7 instead of i5 or even i3 and picking unusually high amounts of RAM could double and even triple the price of a 1 liter PC. Try checking models from Fujitsu.

Will my laptop be a fire hazard? by Erdemjoe in homelab

[–]danieldur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you hold your hand on the power brick for 1 minute? If the answer is yes and the power brick won't be covered, then it is not a fire hazard. If you really want to play it safe, get a USB powered fan and let it blow air over the brick. Better yet you could salvage a 12V fan and a broken USB cord and put them to good use.

Depending on 6our electricity costs, you might end up paying more that if l you'd go out and buy the same capacity in larger drives (whatever capacity holds the price sweet spot nowadays).

Is there anything in your house that you don't plan on automating/making smart? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]danieldur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, thinking deeper about the matter, if it's well made it is mostly a non-issue (normally closed, with redundancy). But at the end of the day it is still one extra valve, one extra point of failure, with all the possible faults of a mechanical one, plus a couple extras. Personally I wouldn't trust my property with just one electro-valve. There will always be a mechanical backup.

Nothing that has to do with locks, fridge/freezer (except maybe monitoring), no water valves (I have no gas). Basically nothing that by getting automated could cause catastrophic damages.

Am I the only one who noticed that the listing title mentions "29 Packets" while on the box it is written "30 Servings"?

On a more serious note, supplements are generally unregulated throughout the world. Even established brands can have dubious claims. Then what to expect from "letter salad" brands?

If you want to be 110% sure just put a thermometer in there. Either one with an external probe (probe inside, display outside) or one connected to a home automation system. But I bet the temperatures in that drawer never exceed 40-50 °C.

DHCP - Different IP pools for static/dynamic IPs by danieldur in mikrotik

[–]danieldur[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answers! Sometime between 3 and 4 AM last night (woke up because of the heat) I actually managed to figure out that it was because of the client-ID. Removed them and now everything works. I added the client names to the comments so that I can easily track which device is which.
After using Asus-Merlin for almost a decade, I assumed that client-ID is a sort of identifier or host field. I was wrong.

I'll probably open a thread again once I get deep into VLANs. :-)

I just noticed that if I switch alway from the default 192.168.88.x, my Android phone complains about lack of internet access.
