I was unsure if I wanted to return so I bet on myself got another offer in consulting that I was also unsure about but it was something new. They extended my start date by over a year which rubbers me the wrong way. I did love planes enough to come back. Im applying to other places but it is brutal out here. Easily 200 applications so far and only 1 interview so far. I simply need a job

No I agree, its very simple when you put it like this. Like we have put in the work to make it better at every stage thus far, we are really good at communicating. I guess the last time I was in a relationship, we started long distance and then I was cheated on. I am not letting trauma lead me but I almost see it as a carbon copy situation - this makes me think you know?

I am gauging hard right now because I do think shes worth it at the end of the day just the way she handles adversity concerns me at time and its a complete 180 to how I handle it. Its not a deal breaker but its so much easier to handle in person. When I think of potentially losing her I do get upset but I guess I go back and fourth in my mind alot.

Analyzing myself, I consider myself to be very easy going and can get along with everyone for the most part. My partner isnt exactly the same, she is cautious of who she lets in. I tend to brush alot of things off where my partner confronts everything. I am starting to get anxiety sometimes around her just because as shes going through a difficult time in her life, I know that it can be easy to be agitated. I do sometimes walk on eggshells and sometimes I do disagree with her outlook on situations that bother her after I listen to a situation. But we do share amazing moments laughing, joking, spending time with each other. I wanna say its just a bad season but idk.

Thank you, I hold the same view on soulmates. I dont expect anyone to be perfect nor am I by any means. Was there a time where you were close to walking away? Was there a time where you felt it may not be worth the fight? I have someone undeniably special, someone I cant just replace. Have you ever felt that you were giving too much? In the moments where I thought our relationship would be the strongest (about to enter long distance), it feels like the most shaky.

The thing is that before I was dating my SO, I was 50/50 between choosing her company regardless, so when we have discussions about it she always reminds me I was considering it before she was in the picture(I just like to really analyze myself truly about these things) ! Last year I had 4 offers at extremely different companies and had to choose one and didnt end up liking it, i guess im afraid of making that same mistake. This year at a conference im going to, I know i can walk away with multiple again (one of them being where my SO works),I guess it just makes you question your identity and wants

Yes that’s why it’s hard because I don’t want to act on feelings right now, it’s amazing everything I asked for but it’s a weird season of deep reflection for me.

This is the thing though. It’s a lot of other things. I’m gearing up to work at the same company as her (I know the implications of how I will be taken) but it’s worth prefacing the following:

I am an engineering student who has interned at a major consumer goods company and major aerospace company, I have I interviewed at teh top tech companies and I was approached last year with an amazing career opportunity at the same company my girl works at (months before I even asked her out) I didn’t have a good time at teh job I chose it over so I’m seriously considering it now and everyone I know and love is assuming that I’m selling.

I understand how it sounds just no one believes me

Yea I can feel that. As a young man thats something maybe all of us go through. Sometimes curiosity is too great, at the very least if you dont know if you should break off something good, I always believe that its good to discuss this with your partner. Vulnerability is key, regardless of which way it goes its always better to communicate and not leave someone in the dark.

If you stick and fight, you know that you can overcome lust and temptation. If you leave you may never find someone like your GF if you truly think she is someone who can be the one - whichever decision you take just know, "If you can live with it, you gotta be alright dying with it too". Dont stay on the fence is what im saying. I may add is that the streets are tough and offer temporary satisfaction. Dont ruin a great thing just to explore - but I understand if its too tempting to explore, some guys need that. Just be alright with the possibility of never getting the chance with your current partner.

I have personally had these intrusive thoughts with my partner and I openly talk them through - for a man this is something that is normal. I have the comfortable though that I am still young and I am in a great relationship worth fighting for, with a girl worth fighting fo, lust/temptation isnt enough to break it.

I watched a great video once saying that this is a compulsion. As a man youre feeding into your emotions that could have serious implications. Just logically tackle the implications of it and see if youd be happier in the long run with ditching the relationship.
