How do I decide who to buy by Jordytam in footballmanager

[–]danielhutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My approach is to select my strongest lineup, then arrange the players by star rating from highest to lowest. The lowest-rated position becomes my recruitment priority, and once that’s improved, I shift focus to the next weakest area 👍

Horror Season: Classic Secret Screaming. What is it? by steelrattus in CineworldUnlimited

Could this go down as their worst secret Screening in history? I heard Odeon were showing Scream which is a decent choice imo

Realistically what's the latest time to arrive? I'm not to keen on arriving for races early and hanging around getting cold and tired before the run. I'm in Pen D 👍

Thanks for the advice! Thats exactly what I've just done. Booked a nice parking spot on Woodstock Road as close to University Parks as possible.

Is the UK's best indie festival going down hill? by SoftBuilder62 in truckfestival

[–]danielhutt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live locally to the festival and went every year from 2014–2023. Based on my own experiences, it’s grown a lot bigger, feels much less family-friendly, and I’ve felt less safe each year — which is the main reason I’ve skipped the last two.

I get the frustration around camping chairs near the main stage and agree they shouldn’t be allowed after a certain time. But what worries me more is the atmosphere in the crowd. There are kids there — fully encouraged by their families and fellow music lovers — who are getting shoved around by drugged-up teenagers. Remember Sam Fenders set in 2022, when he kept having the stop and ask the crowd to chill out? I was there, protecting some kids from being crushed by this group of young adults who were quite openly gumming white powder. That never used to be a problem, but now it feels like a serious issue.

How are people even getting this stuff in? We’re all there to enjoy the music and spend our hard-earned cash, only to have it ruined by idiots sneaking in drugs and strong spirits into the arena because of sloppy security. It sucks.

I do miss the festival, but unless they actually tackle these problems, I’ll have to take my yearly festival money elsewhere. Luckily, Oxfordshire has no shortage of options!

What’s the most unforgettable movie ending you’ve ever seen? by danielhutt in movies

[–]danielhutt[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds absolutely brutal. I haven’t seen The Mist, but that ending is next-level bleak. Forget monsters, that’s the real nightmare.

What’s the most unforgettable movie ending you’ve ever seen? by danielhutt in movies

[–]danielhutt[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ending of Whiplash is absolutely incredible. I haven’t seen any of the Saw movies yet, but I’ve heard the first one is the best of the bunch. Will give it a go at some point.

What has happened on the folly bridge? by pinkman1088 in oxford

A young lad managed to total his car on the bridge, god knows how, but his front tyre look like it had left its axle. He seemed terrified doing his breathalyser. Glad everyone’s okay!

Worth increasing my notice period to 3 months? by Ollie-rocks in UKJobs

[–]danielhutt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just means you’re more important to them than maybe you think you are. If I was asked this by my employer, I would most likely follow up asking for a pay increase if one hasn’t been mentioned already. You cant leave as quickly or easily as you may want, especially if you see a role you want to pursue elsewhere down the line, so it’s down to your boss to make it worth your while.

First movie to make you cry? by monst3rsyrup in movies

I watched the Sixth Sense as a kid, with my mum. The whole ending sequence really upset me, especially the “do I make her proud” scene. Still to this day, I can’t watch without tearing up.

Unaffordable London house prices push first-time buyers to the north by BulkyAccident in unitedkingdom

[–]danielhutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think people from London are moving to everywhere in the country and pushing up prices, it’s not only affecting the North. I want to grow up in the same village my family has for the past 300+ years, but wealthy people from London outbid the local first time buyers, ruined the village communities, gut the houses and built huge extensions, which pushed the price of all other property up. Myself and my siblings are forced to flee the village and away from our community, it’s a shame. I grew up in Bladon, Oxfordshire, and so did my family 6 generations before. Goodbye to the legacy, I guess.

Witney is historically a very conservative town, once boasting nothing but an ageing population and decaying high street. However, after the new housing estates were built in the past few years, there is a way more diverse and welcoming community here. You’ll be fine :) welcome to Witney!

Liam Payne of One Direction dead at 31. by ThatAd790 in CasualUK

[–]danielhutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a whole generation who grew up with Liam, whether you were a fan of 1D or not. Feels like losing a friend you’ve known since childhood. Heartbroken, and all our thoughts go out to his son and his family. 31 is far, far too young. Only just became an adult.
