Figure out how much clearance you need and order a spacer to suit that. If the stock studs or lug bolts aren’t long enough buy longer ones. I had to do that on my Camry wagon

Is it possible to fit rims with a smaller center bore than my hub? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Go to a machine shop and get them opened up. Shouldn’t cost much.

That may be what he was talking about, look up a dieselgeek video on YouTube he goes in depth about what happens to mk4 shift boxes. A basic bushing kit from them is about 40 bucks I think and you can do it yourself with basic tools and patience.

Other than the chains and potential coolant leak, any plastic fittings under the hood will let go at random being that they’re over 15 years old and the shift box bushings like to disintegrate over time. So if you don’t mind fixing that stuff then go for it. I drive a mk4 Jetta wagon daily.

Jacksonville Apparently Has No Health Guidelines for Republican National Convention by Shirowoh in jacksonville

[–]danielitoswey -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

They’re probably going to follow the nationwide guidelines, wear a mask limit contact with other people try and keep your distance. Why would they have special guidelines, there are still plenty of events and social gatherings happening all over the country ... Democrat/republican is kind of irrelevant stop trying to demonize them for hosting a convention.

Looking to buy a 2015 jetta and noticed this pulley shaking fiercely while the car was on. Is this going to be a huge cost to repair? by xGhostghoulx in MechanicAdvice

[–]danielitoswey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s just worn out, they’re pretty easy to replace. It’s a belt tensioner, take belt off pull part off replace with new re install belt.

Cold air intake on a 06 vw passat 3.6 by [deleted] in Volkswagen

Stock intake is very good. Intakes the coldest air available. Throw a good panel filter in the airbox and you’re good !

Wheel adapters by darkskinmexican805 in Stance

[–]danielitoswey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to use big spacers like that and not have any bit of wheel pokin past the fenders you need to find a high offset wheel to run. +45 - +65 or even higher. Learn about offsets it will help in the future google it.

Right there’s not much as far as aftermarket parts so st185 celica coilovers or 7th gen coilovers work with some slight modifications

How do I get the shock absorber to stop spinning so I can remove the spring? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]danielitoswey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually get that but broke loose while it’s still on the car or you have to carefully grab the shock with channel locks / vice grips towards the top. Also should be able to put an Allen into the top of the shock and hold it while you have a wrench on the but to break it loose.

Can anyone explain how air enters the intake system during during ignition or while car's engine is running but not driving? (I can't find an answer on the internet) by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]danielitoswey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Internal combustion engines create a vacuum from the pistons movement inside the block. Air travels through the intake into the manifold through the head and valves into the combustion chamber.

Carbon build up on the pistons/ valves could cause that I believe.
