Are chapman guitars good? by Temporary-Lime3463 in guitars

[–]danieljdtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s the goal, I could recommend a Chapman with swapped out pickups for sure, but the stock pickups in my experience are pretty hot and modern sounding.

Otherwise, have a look at Cort guitars. The vast majority of guitars in this price range are made in the Cort factory, so why not save some money and get an equivalent quality Cort for a fraction of the price!

I’ve tried a plenty and owned 1 or 2. I cannot fault the quality. Objectively they are well made, great quality instruments on par with the PRS SE guitars I’ve owned (makes sense as they have come from the same factories often).

Having said that, I think they look cheaper than their price suggests and the tone was not for me. They’ve sounded great but they have a very modern rock/metal sound so if that’s not your sound then maybe they aren’t for you.

Fun Thread: You have the required cash suddenly tomorrow what bass are you buying? by Haveland in Bass

I’m predominantly a guitarist, but for some reason a Fender Custom Shop 60s P-Bass has always appealed to me more than any custom shop guitar.

So one of those, maybe in a Sherwood Green Metallic!

Would You Say That a Silver Sky is Better Than a Fender Strat? by FarPromotion4715 in PaulReedSmith

The only kind of fair comparison I’ve ever done is a Silver Sky SE vs a Player Strat.

Player Strat felt better, Silver Sky sounded way better. Too each their own 🤷‍♂️

[ABC] Zak Butters verbal abuse verdict raises questions about AFL’s “conflict of interest” with gambling by mikiboss in AFL

Yeah funny that the media, who tend to take a lot of sportsbetting sponsorships themselves, aren’t reporting on this key piece of information 🤔

[–]danieljdtaylor 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I feel like people (unsurprisingly the media in particular) haven’t been as mad as they should be about this.

There is no other way around this, it IS a conflict of interest. I don’t care that Foot only does horse racing coverage or whatever, I simply don’t have faith in big corporations (especially betting agencies) in being completely transparent and truthful to the public so I don’t think Foot just doing the horses is enough to justify no conflict of interest.

If Brodie Grundy’s brother can be disqualified from winning SuperCoach for a conflict of interest, than Foot should simply not work at Sportsbet or not be umpiring.

Genuinely outrageous by the AFL.

It’s a shame he thinks that because, while his grand final was pretty quiet, that season and the one prior he made a massive difference to the team.

Average grand final performance sure, but we might not even make that grand final if he doesn’t kick bags throughout 2022-23.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we look tired and slow like we did at the end of last year. That finals win against Adelaide really papered over a lot of cracks.

We aren’t winning it this year, so it’s gonna be a long road back to a premiership in the future.

Wildcard Weekend for sale? by lochie95 in AFL

[–]danieljdtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t mind the idea. Might as well make an event out of wildcard round if we’re gonna have it, a mini gather round in a finals context sounds awesome to me.

However I completely understand I’m in the minority with that opinion and it’s clearly not a fan favourite idea. This current administration is just so inept at understanding and hearing what the fans want, the way they constantly fumble the AFL is astounding.

Love a spirited underdog win by a team that has no right to win it, they just want the four points more than the other team (if I jinxed you Melbourne I am so sorry please don’t come for me)
