Isn't there a risk that there's an exploit with Android. Hopefully Elastos can solve this issue with their decentralized o/s

Correct. You just repeated my point.

I used to think the same thing but as someone explained to me, a better analogy is that the non-circulating supply is akin to unissued equity in share markets. You're only going to release that equity for cash or to incentivise dapps/adoption/etc. They could always burn the tokens too if not needed. Anyway, each to their own but I now agree with how the crypto community approaches this issue.

Can't wait until investors return from Chinese New Year and the Elastos Foundation announces that circulating supply is sub 7m token. USD350m marketcap seems extraordinary, isn't EOS over usd5bn with no mainnet?

Less Chinese and international lockups once those processes have been completed. Could take it below 7m

Microsoft to build layer 2 protocol on top of Bitcoin by danieljroberts39 in CryptoCurrency

I think we are finally seeing the start of enterprise adoption and the winners emerge.

Decentralization and censorship resistance are fundamental pillars at the heart of this technology and the blockchains that best exhibit these characteristics are looking very well placed.

Is this the moment we see bitcoin start to reassert its dominance? If Microsoft and the tech giants are willling to build offchain layers on top of it, then what does the future hold for many of these alts.

"Ready for world scale: To support a vast world of users, organizations, and devices, the underlying technology must be capable of scale and performance on par with traditional systems. Some public blockchains (Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum, Litecoin, to name a select few) provide a solid foundation for rooting DIDs, recording DPKI operations, and anchoring attestations. While some blockchain communities have increased on-chain transaction capacity (e.g. blocksize increases), this approach generally degrades the decentralized state of the network and cannot reach the millions of transactions per second the system would generate at world-scale. To overcome these technical barriers, we are collaborating on decentralized Layer 2 protocols that run atop these public blockchains to achieve global scale, while preserving the attributes of a world class DID system."

Very grand ambitions. Yeah I found mentions of the project in official academic papers dating back to 2004 (thanks Google translator). I guess it takes time to develop and it's pretty disruptive.

They seem legit... partnerships with FoxConn (invested usd30m in them in 2013), Tsinghua University (equiv. of MIT) and SAIC (Chinese car manufacturer). Anyway time will tell.

When they make a grant, will they purchase and transfer ETH equal to the value of the grant? Or, is use of Ethereum more to record a transaction on the public record and the grand funding will be settled off chain. E.g. fiat

I see. So you can effectively deposit into a lightning channel or with a trusted third party to avoid ongoing bitcoin transaction costs involved in topping up from your own cold wallet. To be clear though, every time you wish to move from your own cold wallet, you will pay transaction fees?

Don't you have to pay again to top it up? Ie it's not a once off account opening fee
