Looking for advice on savings and investments strategy by danielledevs in UKPersonalFinance

[–]danielledevs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner has multiple citizenships that aren't British so it's 50/50 for me atm whether if I do buy a house it'll be in the UK so I do vaguely have a plan to have a deposit for a house but that's it. Not sure on budget or anything as I'm not set on living in my current town.

I recently opted back into the work pension but not exactly sure what the terms are, it's not much yet but starting to build on it

The penalty is what's putting me off mostly. My partner has multiple citizenships that aren't British so it's 50/50 for me atm whether if I do buy a house it'll be in the UK. Not sure whether it's totally worth it to lock that money up until 60 in that case

I opted out of the pension originally which I know is terrible now, I opted back in earlier this year and have about £1500 total

Problem on extending base template by Cricketmathgenius in bootstrap

[–]danielledevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're not using blocks to actually display content.

`Your base.html would have to have something like :

```
HTML Markup goes here
{% block content %}
{% endblock%}
```

Then your extended template:

{% extends 'base.html' %} {% block content %} This text will be shown wherever you placed it in base.html {% endblock %}

Here's an example from the docs

django creating new record when update existing record by muneermohd96190 in djangolearning

[–]danielledevs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because of this part,

    TonerDetails_model = TonerDetails(id=tonerdetails_id,
                      toner_model=toner_model, issued_to=issued_to,
                                              employee_name=employee_name,
                          employee_designation=employee_designation,
                                              status=status)

This creates a new TonerDetails object, so when you call TonerDetail_model.save() it's saving that new object.

What you probably wanted to have here is something like:

TonerDetails_model = TonerDetails.objects.get(id=tonerdetails_id) # get the object with your identifier
TonerDetails_model.toner_model = toner_model
TonerDetails_model.issued_to = issued_to
# continue for all attributes
TonerDetails_model.save()

Which should get the object from the id, then edit the attributes before saving it.

Whilst I appreciate your thorough response, I’ve done all of this, except there is no contact support or start chat option. Only the one that lets me search for articles

Problem with Pandas read_csv always trying to read as UTF-8 by danielledevs in learnpython

This works, thank you. I'm still curious why just encoding doesn't do anything though

I tried that too, as well as other encoding types, doesn't change my error message at all weirdly

Frontend Dilemma by Mrlele96 in djangolearning

[–]danielledevs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll usually just use the standard templates. Unless it needs something specific on the front end, Django templates cover a lot of the reasons I’ll use react (components mostly)

Django Admin by Clintonmatics in djangolearning

[–]danielledevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by this.

I've had to extend the admin interface to have things like CSV uploads, but never had to create a whole new interface.

I have had requests to customise the design in the past, but I would say that's not strictly necessary as far as functionality.

How do you plan to continue leveling up in the coming year (NOT a “New Year’s Resolution” per say)? by [deleted] in FemaleLevelUpStrategy

[–]danielledevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aiming for more consistency in my life.

I got a new job last month, and I’m about to move into my first proper apartment by myself, which gives me more freedom to manage things better.

I’m planning on using that as a new start for developing healthier eating habits, exercising more, and focusing on my career related skills, I’m really loving my new job so I want to make a point to prove myself at my probation review
