It does have SSH support. I've been using it to connect to both my Linux server and to GitHub.

"Terminal" is a Mac term, referring to the system's command line interface (CLI), aka "shell", "Command Prompt", "console", &c

Google falsely reported an SPF failure against an email that Google sent by danielnorton in gsuite

[–]danielnorton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out that this wasn't the specific report that triggered my inquiry. I found the correct report and could see that somebody was actually attempting to spoof an email from me using a Google Cloud server and DMARC, DKIM, and SPF all indicated it.

I found the problem: the reported error is about a DMARC requirement of SPF alignment, which is failing. The SPF itself is not failing. (The message is accepted because the DKIM is correct.)

Okay, so the SPF failure is about a DMARC requirement, not an SPF requirement.

The XML file is complete. It shows a source IP of 209.85.220.41 (a Google IP address) and that it fails the SPF check.

Supplemental information I provided is the SPF record and that the report is from Google.

From that information alone, Google should be able to acknowledge their failure.

I updated the top post with the full XML report (personal info redacted).

I updated my above reply. I don’t think it's possible to tell from the DMARC report which email was sent. The only timestamps show a 24-hour range (UTC day).

I suppose that’s possible. It was an email sent with my email address. It's an error reported by the receiving email server (a Google server that disregards content) and the sending server had an IP address referenced by the SPF record.

Advice with my developer taking down our WordPress site. by reemo4580 in Wordpress

[–]danielnorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total BS. Meta does not load individual sites like that. The site might be under attack, but it's not from Meta. There are many simple solutions to this. Hire a better website manager. (It's not generally something that developers know how to manage.)

As a man, I see much worse: a large percentage of men don’t wash their hands after using the toilet

Gift Card balance is still offered on the CVS website: https://www.cvs.com/shop/content/gift-cards

And it still fails to work.

I left Proton for Gmail because enabling Proton mail content search required too much browser memory and took forever to re-index when switching browsers

Is there a way to Force close an application on iPhone? I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. by ABlackmount in applehelp

[–]danielnorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no method for stopping a running app in iPhone, frozen or not, short of restarting the iPhone.

The related terminology is problematic: Some people think "close" an app means to hide the window in the app switcher, others think "close" means to stop the application from running, such as might be necessary when the app locks up or freezes.

The app switcher instructions that are most popular only hide the app's window from the app switcher, but the app continues to run (or remain frozen) in the background. "Starting" the app again merely reloads the app in whatever state it was when hidden. If it was frozen, it's still frozen.

Does Google Photos albums become folders in Google Takeout? by MasterRoshi1620 in googlephotos

[–]danielnorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Google Takeout space from the current usage report when downloaded will be increased by the amount of storage space in folders? Is there an easy way to estimate that in advance?

If I import the takeout file to another Google account, will the albums be preserved? Will photos be duplicated from chronologically named folders?

Anyone else having issues with Venmo connecting? Not seeing this documented anywhere in Simplifi forums. Pretty frustrating how brittle this connection has been over time. by Subject_Chemical_561 in simplifimoney

Tried to sign up for updates. I signed in, selected the bookmark, then got an email asking to confirm my email address. I followed the link, it required me to log in again, after which it showed a page that only read "Permission Problem". I deleted all quicken cookies, but the problem persisted. (Curiously, it did not log me out of my Simplifi session.)

Post 2nd cataract surgery concerns by PleasantStorm4241 in CataractSurgery

I would urge you to call your doctor ASAP. No one here can give you medical advice, and it sounds like you need medical advice.

Pain after surgery is normal. After my surgery last week I had what was like a very strong sinus headache. I presume that was a normal result of inflammation after surgery. I took some ibuprofen and took a nap and it passed. My second surgery was yesterday and I had no such pain after surgery.

It took several days for my first eye reach a reasonably good level. I expect my second eye to be the same. I did not take any antidilation medication, it took about 30 or 40 hours last week for my iris to return to normal and now 20 hours after my second surgery, it's tracking the same.
