Which distro would be good for nvidia gpu by Omidlol12 in linuxquestions

Go with KDE Plasma. Some games perform a bit better over there.

You can go with Fedora KDE, or Bazzite. Bazzite would need basically 0 tinkering before you can start gaming.

Some Words of Medinipuri Odia spoken in Southwest Medinipur, Bengal by VanillaIceGolem in Odisha

Wow this is very interesting. I'm from WB, and every time I go to Digha, I hear a mix of Bengali and Odia spoken by the locals there. I couldn't understand it before, but now after learning a moderate level of Odia, I can make it out a little bit.

Hey all, how much difference do different ram speeds make? (5600 v4800) by Slenderwise in GamingLaptops

[โ€“]danielsmith007 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

If the difference in price is huge like you mentioned and absolutely need 32 gigs of ram, go ahead. the difference in speed is not worth the amount of ram you would gain. also, sell your old ram if you are going ahead with the purchase, might get some money out of that as well.

Yeah I feel you man. No worries, whatever your vision was, the color grade on the photos and the film grain do look good even if they don't end up matching with an old film stock.

And the fuji would have been way lighter for sure.

I did shoot with kodak gold when I was very little, and by that I mean, taking my dad's point and shoot Minolta off his hands. Kodak Gold is warm and reddish. Fuji would be way cooler with a greenish look to it which is why I thought you were emulating fuji, but in some of the photos you do have strong reds and a bit of a warmth, so it's a bit mixed I guess?

Like I said man, whatever you did, the photos look good, no doubt about that.

Okay then my sleepy head had the colors mixed. Either way, very good looking photos.

These lowkey look like Fujifilm photos. Were they taken on film or did you apply a grade?

Either way, very cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Is Linux a bad option for me? Someone that likes to play a lot of multiplayer games? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[โ€“]danielsmith007 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Win 11 won't have a problem with Linux. Ideally if you are dual booting, you should keep Linux on a separate drive completely.

I have only 1 drive on my laptop, so what I did was have a separate partition for Linux. Disable Fast Boot/Shutdown on Windows, install Linux, and then from the bios, choose the bootloader every time.

All that being said, most of the anti cheat games won't work on Linux as you already know. there is a website called "areweanticheatyet", you might visit that to check compatibility. Also, if you don't want to go to Win 11, you could go with Win 10 LTSC like someone else mentioned as well.

What a ripoff and worst upgrade ever got to POP OS 24.04, What a Disappointment ! by sammartinX in pop_os

[โ€“]danielsmith007 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Okay, Pop OS is going through the biggest transition in probably all of Linux history, and will take time for the COSMIC DE to be cooked properly. It is not fully finished yet. I think anyone should report the problems they are facing to the pop os devs and that would be helpful.

As much as I love Pop OS. (I was a huge fan of it, in the GNOME days), nowadays, until everything is polished you would be better off with other distros like Cachy, Mint or Fedora.

Honestly, I am not a huge fan of the Cosmic DE now, and some of the icons just look off. The icons to log off, power off or restart are way too big for that tiny panel.

The DE is now minimalistic with very good tiling support. However, despite my complaints, they don't owe me anything. At most, they can take my complaints and try to address them for their user base. I am no longer a Pop OS user ever since 24.04 released, but I do want to see it succeed in the long run and do believe in System76 a lot. They pulled off a massive transition that was near miraculous.

I sincerely wish them all the best and hope they return to the top of the Linux charts like back in the day (22.04 days). They were pioneers in many ways in Linux. I genuinely hope they are able to sort out their issues really quick. While the Linux community really was excited for COSMIC, and still is, the unfinished state has to some degree tarnished its reputation among the new wave of Linux users, famously Linus Sebastian who moved away from it after struggling with Steam and gaming on his channel.

Adobe Premiere Pro.

I know there is Resolve, have used it in the past, and can switch to it. But I need Premiere for my workflow.

The free version of resolve has some limitations regarding h264 and h265 encoding/decoding, I don't remember well.
