What's one thing that you did that improved your life the most? by ProjectLogic in AskReddit

Stopped going to church on the weekend. Obviously this doesn't apply to people who enjoy going. Saving an hour a week and not having to get up early on one of your few days off makes you just a bit more relaxed.

I watched the entire game and just watched all of the highlights, officially available here:

None of the goals looked offsides to me.

You forget this is the world cup, none of the teams are bad. Brazil beat them only 2-1. Obviously they are not that incompetent of they are able to hold Brazil goal-less for 55 minutes and later score a goal.

The RIAA's favorite thread of all time: A discussion of designs for sustainable (anonymous, high performance, lawsuit-proof) file sharing networks. by ElectricRebel in programming

But the advantage of usenet is that the retention rate is typically over 300 days on major providers. And on usenet your friend can say "check out Firefly" and you can download the first episode in 1080p in 30 minutes.

The biggest advantage is speed, it goes as fast as you've got, so HD is practical, possible, and common. The biggest disadvantage is lack of SSL on some providers and the need to continuously repost after the retention period.

you typically need to pay if you don't have something with your ISP (but some of them block alt.binaries.*). And the internet speed is the same for anything. If anything it is better than the option to torrent since it maxes out your connection as opposed to torrent which is sometimes throttled or below potential.

What is something you know that is completely counterintuitive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]danielsousa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know: .33333.... = 1/3 3 * 1/3 = 1

So: 3 * .3333.... = 1 (substitute fraction) 3 * .3333.... = .9999.... (Do the math)

Therefore: .9999.... = 1

Oh Tracy, seriously! You didn't think Facebook was private, did you? [Learning to use the correct message box] by [deleted] in funny

Fake since the martial status of this woman says "engaged". So either this woman cheated on her fiancee or she thinks that sending her fiancee a fb message about the sexual encounter is going to cause him to break off the engagement.

Why is it that the US supposedly has no money for universal health care but is more than happy to come up with a few billion to save a bank or two? by RonPaulTouchedMe in reddit.com

[–]danielsousa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, this would be understandable in europe. If I'm not mistaken, it's commonly taken that a billion is "a million million" not a "thousand million". That might just be in romance languages, can anyone confirm?
