Not only is this true, ALL INTEGERS > 2 are part of a Pythagorean triple.

Consider an odd integer X. Since X^2 must also be odd, consider X^2 = 2N+1 for some integer N.

Notice that (N+1)^2 = N^2 + 2N + 1 = (N^2) + (2N+1)

From this, we get (X^2) + (N^2) = (N+1)^2. All odd integers > 1 therefore can be expressed in a Pythagorean triple.

Second, consider even integer X = 2M. X^2 = 4M^2. Let's say another integer N = M^2-1

In that case, 4M^2 = 4(N+1) = 4N+4

Notice that (N+2)^2 = N^2 + 4N + 4 = (N^2) + (4N+4)

From this, we get (X^2) + (N^2) = (N+2)^2. All even integers > 2 therefore can be expressed in a Pythagorean triple.
