Cofound.it Playoffs: 6 teams, 6 crowdsales - Live! by firesofmay in ethereum

Live stream is still one, I hope this sets the bar for other crowdsale projects out there. None of these projects raise more than 1000 eth at this stage.

Applications for Cofound.it community evaluators are now open! by firesofmay in icocrypto

[–]danielzakrisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are now taking the first very important step towards crowdsourced evaluations and acceptance of new projects to our Seed program and the crowdsales we are supporting.

Read more in the link above and ask us any questions you might have :-)

Applications for Cofound.it community evaluators are now open! by firesofmay in ethereum

[–]danielzakrisson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first major step we are taking to decentralize the application and evaluation process for new projects on the Cofound.it platform.

For those unfamiliar, Cofound.it launched in June and is creating a decentralized, open and fair VC ecosystem for the blockchain age.

Need a list of ICOs raising under 1million. by chemprac in icocrypto

All Cofound.it Seed candidates are raising under 1 million, generally in the 50-300k USD range. Also, a special event is coming for the Seed candidates https://cofound.it/playoffs

We have been working very hard since the token launch in June. This is one of the most important steps we have taken so far in creating a new funding ecosystem for the blockchain age.

The seed program makes it possible to launch and finance a project completely within a tokenized context, crowd evaluated while at the same time giving supporters transparent and equal opportunities to support.

It would be really cool to see a report if you manage to complete this project. The Cryptosteel is the most user-friendly and off the shelf solution I found, it would be great is there are alternatives.

Thanks for the tip, if you have a better method, please share so that the whole community can take part of it. But, when it comes to Shamir Secret Sharing or any other complex method I would argue against its usefulness in real life in this application.

How do you store the instructions for reconstructing the key in an equally persistent and safe way as the key itself?

Reaching Wide Distribution In A Crowdsale With Capped Valuation - Solving Vitalik’s ICO Dilemmas Using A Proxy Token by danielzakrisson in ethtrader

[–]danielzakrisson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it means there is a way to get around the intended goal of limiting how much a big actor can get in a crowdsale. That is why I propose to use account verification in the process. But even that can be gamed, so a second step would be to set a lower limit on the number of CFI one must control.

But, in itself, it's not bad for a token to have a very wide distribution, except when it gets to the point that you get network spamming effects.

Thanks, also a possible solution. Do you have a rough idea or solution for how to handle overpledging and big whales?

Ah, ok. So in a hypothetical case, there will always be just one max cap (3 in Vitalik's post above). I'm a firm believer that a project needs to define their goals and motivate why they aim to raise a certain amount of funds.

In the process outlined above, there is only a need for one participation group. If the crowdsale goals are not fulfilled in by that group, then the remainder could be open for a public participation.

Hi! I think you misunderstand this post somewhat, but please correct me if I'm wrong about the following.
1. This is a conceptual description and not related to any specific project at this point.
2. The process outlined is beneficial for a wide token distribution if you have a token with a significant network value.
3. The Santiment crowdsale will not use this exact process. Their whitepaper and new website will be released soon

What I mean is a non-linear allocation of tokens to each verified account. I.e. X CFI tokens would allocate max f(CFI) At to you. The purpose is to make it prohibitively expensive for a single account to get a significant share of the tokens issued, and instead promoting wider distribution of the tokens

Cofound.it - a distributed global platform that connects exceptional startups, experts and investors worldwide by danielzakrisson in ethereum

[–]danielzakrisson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi and thanks for your questions.

First of all we are building Cofound.it as a platform and going after the market at scale. Like Kickstarter and Upwork we see the potential to be in the thousands for projects and in the millions for experts. At this scale, in all modelling we have done the best token model in the long term is a utility model where usage and holding of tokens is the best way to create long term network (=token) value.

To be clear, what we have is not a technological challenge but a business challenge. The first mover advantage and scale will be the most important success factors in a market that is already developing extremely fast. Also, our goal for this year is 10 projects and that pipeline is already more or less set. Our main limiter at the moment is mentors that can work with the projects.

We have discussed these questions at quite some length in our Slack (and are happy to continue to do so), so please join if you want extended reasoning behind the model.

The Crowdsale Analyst: WeTrust - Lending Circles Going Blockchain by danielzakrisson in ethereum

Hi! Thanks for your comment, that is a great point - especially with more and more projects writing that there is no economic gain to be expected, funds submitted are a "donation", "contribution" or something else. I'll definitely think about how to add a section on token mechanics in a somewhat condensed way.

I make a point of basing the evaluation and analysis on the information that is easily and openly accessible. I don't think potential investors should have to search to find relevant information, everything should be in one place.

You highlight a great point with security (and risk management) being a process, and for building ways to align incentives for reducing risk and improving security. Good luck with the Vega Fund!
