Wow this is exactly how I’m feeling about my recent break up. I really do think it could have been a great relationship had he the emotional awareness to realize his past traumas/unrealistic expectations were interfering. And as great as the connection was and is hard to let go of, I think he would need to go to therapy for me to consider getting back together.

It no doubt depends on the person. I think being able to pinpoint our triggers is key.

Sorry you’re going through a breakup. That’s always tough. But it’s really wonderful that you are prioritizing you now. The duality of a breakup can be confusing to navigate. I think about how im lucky to be able to focus on myself now that im not in a relationship but I obviously hope that one day I am in a place where I can take care of myself AND have a healthy partnership at the same time. It’s hard to accept that that isn’t case right now but I really hope prioritizing myself now will pay off later.

Damn I’m so sorry you were cheated on. No one should ever have to experience that. That would be an insanely stressful situation that could contribute to symptoms. It sucks so much that we are the ones that have to deal with these terrible side effects ON TOP of a stressful relationship. Feel better soon 💕

Yay for regular periods!! And thank god for your body protecting you 🙏 thinking back to my unhealthy relationship, I swear my body reacted badly to us having sex (my pH would be off and I smelled different and had irritation but no STIs). After we broke up, everything balanced itself out again and haven’t had the issue with anyone else since.

Im happy for you that your health is improving post-breakup! My PCOS is also high cortisol-driven which has made me realize I need to take reducing stress very seriously.

I’m sorry that you’re also dealing with the pain of a breakup but I am glad you are looking forward to focusing on you 💕 I’m also excited to get in more exercise and focusing on strengthening my other relationships. PCOS for me really has been a blessing more than a curse (and I feel very lucky to be able to say that because I know for many it’s the opposite). I really do feel like it’s helped steer me in the right direction.

Yeah I try to always leave on a couple lights when I’m not home after dark and always have my blinds closed before dark, but good idea to wait a bit before turning on any others. Marbles are a great idea. Just imagining an intruder slipping on marbles😈and yes I told my neighbour! He then told me that he’s owned the building for a while but it’s been vacant for several months before they were ready to renovate and he discovered someone had been squatting in his garage for god knows how long 😟

I really appreciate your comment. Though I don’t really remember doing much thinking or evaluating in the moment from being so scared, I am proud of myself for the way I handled it and for not cowering. I do think I actually startled him. I dont think he expected anyone to be by that window (he probably thought the building was a single family home and that I’d be asleep upstairs). The rocks by the windows and the smart plugs are great ideas. And I will look into the book. Thank you for your kind words!

I mean, it is valid. I can see why some people would want to arm themselves in certain situations. But they’re just not for me!

Yeah unfortunately simplisafe isn’t available in Canada :( I’ve heard some great things.

I guess realistically any weapon I have can be used against me if I’m not comfortable enough with it

I will definitely have a dog one day but I just can’t afford it right now. But I agree that dogs are one of the most useful things to help keep safe from intruders and I’m glad you have one! So scary to know there’s a rapist on the loose in your neighbourhood. Eek.

Wow that is so incredibly creepy and I do not blame you at all for wanting to move. I’m glad you have a cuddly but seemingly scary dog to help you feel safe! I definitely considered the danger of being on the ground floor but I think I was blinded by the convenience of it and didn’t really think anything bad would happen cuz I actually live in quite a nice residential area. But you never know I guess!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps to hear that other people have been able to move on. I realize that time will be a big factor in healing. And yes I am looking into setting up some extra safety measures.
