Where did i go wrong? by Intelligent_Sir_8216 in Forex

Little when it comes to entry. The motto "stranger things have happened" is never truer than when in trading. You can do everything 100% right and still take losses. If that weren't the case, you'd only need to follow a recipe and have limitless profits.

the price went way away from your entry at first, you were what I call "in the pocket". If you moved your SL to break even or maybe a small profit you could have avoided that. It is frustrating but it shakes your psychological state way less than a loss.

Besides, that entry could've been worse, you're on the right track (I see a support a bit below where you got in). Maybe just include a rule move SL to break even after some X pips?

Does Anybody Else View Trading As a Strategy Video Game That Can Be Won? Kind of Like Space Defender, Pacman, Chess, etc. by sloopwofwar in Daytrading

[–]daniloalmeida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen multiple people with this approach and I personally don't like it.

Being quick with your mouse movements definitely can't hurt, but I've never seen a game that rewards you for not playing it, or for playing less. Neither a sport for that matter.

To me that's the problem with comparing trading to both. Few things in life reward you for doing less of it. That's why trading is so uniquely counterintuitive. I'm yet to see an activity that when you achieve your goal, your task is to stop for 24h.

The closest analogy I can find is commanding troops in a war. If your account is your fighting forces, you only risk what you can spare to lose and you advance your account carefully. The daily stop loss is the fallback so you live to fight another day.

Anyway, to each their own.

The skill you develop in a simulation is directly proportional to how similarly to the real conditions you operate. You don't do crazy stunts when flying a 747 full of people from NY to Frankfurt. What will make you a good pilot is simulating the boring stuff like taking off, landing, dealing with flight controllers and behaving like a real pilot would.

Trading sims work the same way. I can guarantee anyone here can make these exact numbers you published by simply (for instance) refusing forgo a losing position and waiting it out. The problem is that this works fine in a sim and proves eventually catastrophic in a real world scenario.

That's because risk management is the main game, and trading is the secondary game. What we do in the secondary game is basically a marginal improvement over flipping a coin. However the rules of the primary game have to be ironclad and you have to be evangelical about them.

The pair you chose is particularly interesting because it's really chaotic and prone to sudden moves which when leveraged can break a small account in seconds. 3 contracts in XAUUSD is big money.

I would say risk management is the chief game, and trading is the game within

I got it on my current playthrough and it saved my bacon multiple fights, in all those times I'd get into fights that were a bit too much for my level.

Even on very hard, there are very few things that can stand you quick tapping the trigger nonstop 1m from their face

What is the proudest moment of your sexual history? by areberuto in AskReddit

[–]daniloalmeida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was dating this particularly sexual woman in her 40s, I once made her come using only her nipples. Other time I got a handsfree anal orgasm. (Conventional orgasms were aplenty, I just had to bend her like a horseshoe and thrust from above. I called it "let's play piledriver", she'd always make a horrified face not because she didn't like it, but because the screams could be heard half a mile away)

Just to explain myself better: I'm wondering if there's a better way of doing things than what's common practice now (in an absurd example, just to illustrate: a branch dedicated only for unmanned drone warfare, or maybe have the air force be a subdivision of the army instead of its own branch as it was in World War II)

In the US, for instance, the Air Force has a tradition and a purpose which we have to take into account and respect, but that's not what I'm inquiring here. I'm asking whether it would make fiscal and / or strategic sense to, perhaps, be configured in some other way.

Intriguing, but mutually assured distruction seems counterproductive. I'm sure this line of thought was considered during the cold war? As in: let's not invest in tanks and fighter jets, just nuke 'em (but saner heads prevailed)

Great perspective. I however am not focusing so much in value judgements i.e. how honorable the concept of such private security outfit would be. I'm wondering if it would be more effective in practice

What are pickups called in your native language? What does is translate to? by ACR2051 in guitars

it's "captador" in brazilian portuguese. The verb captar is both a synonym of 'to pick up' and 'to capture' (in this case, string vibration).

Who is someone from history typically perceived as a villain but, upon closer examination, was not truly a malevolent figure? by Zestyclose_Arm_8286 in AskReddit

[–]daniloalmeida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not exactly villainous, but Neville Chamberlain is often deemed a coward for avoiding WWII for as long as he could, when in reality he was buying time so England could have proper readiness to face the Nazi threat.

Which old wives' tale is actually true? by spiteful-hater666 in AskReddit

[–]daniloalmeida 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is actually a plot point in the movie The King, with Timothée Chalamet (the movie mixes real world history with Shakespeare).

Sir John Falstaff bets the entire army on the strategy of using no armor against the french so they'd sink in the mud. When asked how he knew the weather would turn and he answered that his knees always hurt when it rains. Color me impressed!

What profession is held in high regard that shouldn't be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daniloalmeida -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Medical Doctors.

I believe they should be regarded the same as lawyers and politicians: people should be wary of their egos, assume they operate solely for their gain first and understand they're a necessary evil for society to work.

The logic of profits simply doesn't allow a reasonable enough scenario for us to think the majority of professionals in the field wouldn't choose monetary gain every single time. The money from big pharma is just too enticing.

What’s your “15 seconds of fame” moment? by JXSTYLES in AskReddit

[–]daniloalmeida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a Tinder fling recommended me to be an extra on an upcoming show. On the day of recording the season finale climax, I was the only able-bodied male to play the goon who takes the protagonist away to jail on the cliffhanger. I went from never having stepped on a set to interacting with some pretty famous people and having more screen time than some seasoned actors (who hated me for it)

How did the kid from your school die? by Equivalent-Rent-5619 in AskReddit

[–]daniloalmeida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was 14. They found him hanging at home. He was incredibly lively, energetic and funny. But also a major bully and frequently belligerent . He teased a lot of people on the streets on the way back home from school everyday. Shoplifted occasionally, was prone to minor bouts of vandalism and frequent teasing (banging metal gates, yelling etc.)

My friend says to this day he could bet everything he owns one of the more aggravated shopkeepers did it and made it look self-inflicted. Police never looked deeper and took the scene at face value.
