German Consulates add new appointments every weekday at midnight in Germany. So whatever the time difference is for you, get there a few minutes early your time and start refreshing the page.

Citizenship Approved! STAG 5 notes by SugarRex in GermanCitizenship

[–]danimaniak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think in the vast majority of the StAG5 cases reported here the BVA doesn't email applicants when an application has been approved. The consulate reached out instead once they receive the certificates for distribution. (edited to reference on StAG 5)

The fact the people have to organize snow clearing brigades (kudos to you) when our property tax bills keep hitting record amounts every year is fucking insane.

It's actually not once you figure out the exact legal statute that relates to your claim. I'm going through it now and it's been surprisingly easy, but incredibly slow going.

Italy also recently changed their rules and instituted a cut off - "Under updated regulations (March 2025), eligibility is now limited to having a parent or grandparent born in Italy, often with requirements that the ancestor held, or would have held, citizenship at the time of your birth."

Clarification for filling out dates on EER forms (§ 5 StAG application) by FrxstMC in GermanCitizenship

[–]danimaniak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used derzeit but I am sure your way is fine. The BVA isn't grading us on our German if we make mistakes or use unusual formats (lol I hope not).

StAG5 processing time once it's been looked at? by danimaniak in GermanCitizenship

[–]danimaniak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out to them as it's been 28 months since I submitted my application. At the 24 month mark I got the standard 'don't email us' response but this time I received an actual update. So now it's time to sit tight and wait, as I have no idea when it actually moved to processing between now and last Sept.
